something left to be desired

Sail Date: January 30, 2012

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Dining Room- food is sub standard and in some cases, cost was deciding factor in food presentation & content --- shipboard activities- very rarely saw ship's company re overseeeing activities ( which could have beeen expanded, daily) - suggest checking out MSC who have mastered passenger activities. Besides low quality/preparation of food and leaving passengers with traditional, boring activities, after cruising for 20 yrs over 12 times, Royal carriobean is a line I suggest people stay away from ( including its partner line )

Pros: the condition of the ship --- very good

Cons: the food is sub level, the shipboard activities leave something to be desired -suggest they cruise on MSC and experience an active, well planned shipboard program

Recommends Jewel of the Seas? No.

most shows are 1 1/2 hour - Jewel --3/4 hr - 1 group - although unique, could use additional talent --review how MSC manages this as their overhead is no more than yours -- check & see
Food and Dining
Leaves a great deal to be desired--- the quality and preparation of what is stored from Sysco for meals is based upon cost - dishes are unreconizable or quality wise would never be served in a 3 star restaarant yet the image JEWEL is trying to create
Cabin / Stateroom
Very good, clean -- smoking on the balcony should be bannned as the smoke enters other passenger rooms -- or designate a balcony set of rooms where balcony smoking is permitted --people do not need to breath secondary smoke
Service and Staff
could be much better, especially addressing passenger requests
Ship Quality
The ship is fine as well as the Captain & his staff - well kept, organized
