"A Jewel of a Trip"

Just returned from a six day cruise to the Western Caribbean. The Jewel of the Seas is an excellent ship. This is my fourth cruise on this class of ship and it is by far the best in layout. The entertainment was diverse with a little bit of something for everyone. Everything from Cabin Service to the Waiter Staff in the Tides Restaurant was well above par. I have been to the ports of call previously, so there is not much to say, as they are on most itineraries in the Western Caribbean, except for Casta Maya. This is a relatively new port for the big ships, but is nicely arranged, with a shuttle from one end of the pier to the main entrance to the port. It is new and fresh, without the hawking you get from the merchants in Cozumel. From the ship, the beaches looked beautiful, although a mite rough for leisurely swimming. I just stayed near the port entrance, as they provided lounges on the beach just to chill out.
Again, on this trip, I found the cruise ship to be the destination.

Pros: The Ship

Cons: Early departure from Key West

Recommends Jewel of the Seas? Yes!

Key West, Florida
Take the Conch Train for a good overview.
Don't Miss: Observing the people and shopping
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Chill out time. If you haven't seen a Mayan ruin, that would be an interesting option.
