My teens loved it!

Sail Date: October 01, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

very convenient sailing out of Boston. upset about having a charge for room service. Bingo was pricey, and so was the arcade.

Pros: best food I have had on a cruise

Cons: hidden costs

Recommends Jewel of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
My only complaint about the ship itself, is the solarium pool it looks run down. The fake plants are frayed and faded. it looks cheap. same with the mini golf course. and the salt/chemicals of the pool hurt everyone's eyes!
Food and Dining
We loved the food! the buffet was varied, and well prepared. The main dinner was perfect and the food always hot. However the late night offerings were dismal. You could get hot dogs and pizza at the solarium cafe or order room service WITH A CHARGE.
Cabin / Stateroom
we loved our bed, it was so comfy, made it hard to get out of it! we booked the cheapest rooms, but you would never know it. The rooms were great!
Service and Staff
our waitstaff was fantastic! made special accommodations for our children! Room stewards taught the kids to make towel animals!
Entertainment
There really was always something going on. We only went to 2 shows both comedy and really good! We laughed hard during the whole show. so did our kids! The mini golf course was really beat up.
Children's Programs
For teens they were always busy, dancing scavenger hunts, ect... They truly had the best vacation ever! Our 11 year old was kind of in limbo. The activities planned for him were too young , and he was not allowed to do thing out of his age group. he was not the only one, i saw many other kids his age wandering the ship- I would talk to them and they said the same things.
