Review summary

This was a nice relaxing cruise, and I thought the Island Princess was a fun ship for its size. I prefer a bigger ship because there are more activities and options for food, but they did a good job of providing fun things to do. Mark Harris (the Naturalist) raised the trip a level by himself. His presentations were the highlights for me on the ship, and he was so kind and helpful when I ran into him around the ship. The other presenters were also excellent.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was the fastest and easiest embarkation I've ever had. I boarded at 1:00, and I was in my room with my bag by 1:30.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good quality but fewer choices than a larger ship as expected. Their pop drink package is cheap, but there weren't any pops I could have with my restricted diet. If you want juice or lemonade, you have to order it in the buffet. You can't get your own.

I thought the presentations in the Princess Theater and the comedian were excellent and really made the trip fun.

Ship tip

Go to the educational/entertainment presentations. They are excellent!

There's lots to do. I went to the Capilano Bridge, which was nice.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

There's not a lot to do here. Next time I would go kayaking or do a nature tour.

Juneau, Alaska

Lots of things to do here. The whale watching is outstanding.

Skagway, Alaska

This was a fun port. We went hiking, but beware it's hiking and not a nature stroll!
