Review summary

Great cruise; loved the ports of call and seeing glacier bay and college fjord - ship spends time spinning so you can soak in the views; good food especially if you are not allergic to any food; amazing service; not a lot to do for young kids to early twenties; planned activities could have been better; this ship says it has been renovated but it has not FULLY been renovated, my room was very outdated compared to others in my party; pools outdated; great fitness center

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Long but easy; someone hole punched my card right through my ID number

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining room was great and had good meals there; buffet was hit or miss - some food upset my stomach; gluten free options available but not always super good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There were many amenities on board but somewhat outdated; pool and mini golf was outdated. Gym was excellent! Fun activities such as mini golf, ping pong, shuffle board, checkers, etc.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Great shows, fun staff. Wish there was more to do for teens to mid-twenties. Not many things planned for people of that age.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
Not much for young kids to do at all; planned activities were pretty much no-shows

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Amazing service everywhere; friendly steward and best wait service I have ever had

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This ship was deceiving because it said that it was renovated in 2015 but my room was definitely not. Other people in my party had a renovated room. The ship was nice and most common areas were renovated. Mini golf and pool areas could use an update

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
My bed was not very comfortable but the other twin bed was; cabin outdated even though the ship says it's been renovated; cabin was clean and maintained by steward; shower is microscopic; bathroom was clean; size was great and spacious for a stateroom; did not have the same features and upgrades that the renovated rooms on the ship had; very large closet with many shelves and hangers

Ship tip

Get to breakfast early if you are eating at Horizon court - seats hard to find around 9am

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
clean and easy port - didn't do much since we departed from here

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Visited Creek Street and the Totem Pole museum - cool to see and very cheap; easy port near many restaurants; ate at Alaskan Fish house and it was the best fish I have ever had

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Great port near many restaurants; hiked to Mendenhall Glacier; need to arrange transportation to Mendenhall Glacier because there are not ubers or lyfts in Juneau; saw great wildlife; Do not eat at Red Dog Saloon - very bad food

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
LOVED this city; walked around the town and learned about the history and the gold rush; took the train to White Pass and it was the coolest thing ever! Only 3ish hours so just the right amount of time. The train does not have AC or heating so depending on the weather - dress appropriately (it was very hot when I was there like 80 degrees). It you take the train, sit on the left side of the train (if you are facing the same direction as the train will be moving). Great places to eat but not many right near the port. We ate at a very good fish place near the port but if you are going to eat there - keep in mind it does not open until noon.

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
easy port to get off at and easy to find our transportation to Anchorage; not much to do in this city though

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
very very easy; it's early so I wish I could have gotten off the boat later in the morning

It seems every time the Third Officer is in charge, the ship does donuts in the water. You were lucky she was in charge close to the glaciers.
