Review summary

I enjoyed the cruise because it's what you make it. I think the food was terrible and I feel the drinks were a complete rip off. This is my second cruise with Royal Caribbean and I would probably try a different line for my next cruise but wouldn't rule out going on another Royal Caribbean ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Really smooth embarkation, on the ship within 20 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in the buffet has gone really down hill from when we sailed on this ship 2 years ago. The food was mainly the same in the buffet for all 3 nights and was always luke warm and of poor quality. We ate in the main dining room on the last day as my husband wanted to to have the lobster which had gone up to $37, the lobster was very overcooked and my son in laws mixed grill was terrible. The prices for the drinks was way too expensive, I would of preferred a drinks package but Royal Caribbean have done away with these on 3 day sailings.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Didn't partake, so gave 3 stars

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved the shows in the theatre, The Take That Experience and Grease were brilliant.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff very friendly and room attendant was brilliant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Lovely clean ship

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Lovely spacious clean cabin. Big balcony and very comfty chairs and table.

Ship tip

Take plenty of money for alcohol and beverages. Always try to get to the widjammer as its opening to get a table because it gets very busy.

Ports of call

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

3 out of 5
Not much to see in the port itself.

Cherbourg, France

2 out of 5
We docked on a Sunday and most things were closed.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth as we did a self disembarkation

Maybe food on short cruises is not as good or varied. On our 14 nights cruise on Independence, the dining room food was mainly very good. Windjammer food was much the same at lunchtimes but with some different hot dishes. Each evening the Windjammer had a different ‘theme’ for food. The cheese selection and the desserts in Windjammer were always better than the MDR

We loved the food in MDR. And you would have gotten the lobster for free if you had gone on one of the formal nights when they have it.
