Rock The Boat" was a highlight."

Room Type: Oceanview

I found Independence of the Seas to be easy to negotiate despite its considerable size. The cordial staff keeps the ship neat and clean. The entertainment and activities aboard are aimed at a middle-of-the-road audience. One exception is the cover band \"Rock The Boat.\" These four lads are remarkably talented musicians with an engaging stage presence. They play a long list of classic rock songs and draw a big\, loyal audience. \"Rock The Boat\" proved to be the best entertainment at sea during my eight days of cruising.

Pros: Attentive service from the evening waiters. Outstanding cover band

Cons: Uninspired shipboard activities and musical productions

Recommends Independence of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
The ship's layout is intuitive. It's easy to find your way around. Crew members are constantly cleaning and hand sanitizers are everywhere.
Food and Dining
Our waiter and his assistant served us with a great deal of personal attention. Generally\, dinners in the main dining room were good with an occasional entree or dessert that was exceptional. The key lime pie is first-rate.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our stateroom near the bow was the best I've had. 6208 has an unconventional shape that allows for the love seat to face a large porthole with an unobstructed view. Our attendant was pleasant and accommodating.
Service and Staff
Kudos to the dining staff. Friendly and professional.
This area needs improvement. While \"Rock The Boat\" delivered great performances night after night\, other entertainment options were lacking. The big production shows in particular are aimed at an audience that's not very discriminating. It should be noted that the fitness center rivals those found on land. I used it a half dozen times. It's well-equipped and well-maintained.
