The RC Independence of the Seas was beautiful and had a wonderful staff. We were looking for a trip that would take us away from technology and force us to relax without any real responsibilities and found that in this cruise. We spent quite a bit of time in the fitness center, which was beautiful and contained ample equipment for most any time of day. It's quite a treat to walk on the treadmill while staring out at the open sea. We enjoyed the quiet pool area quite a bit, although all three pools were smaller than we expected and seating was limited.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
When friends and family raved about how good the food is on cruise ships, we had high expectations. Nothing we ate was really very thrilling. There's quite a bit of variety but healthier options are limited.

Nothing too exciting regarding entertainment and activities. I would have loved to see the fitness classes included in the cost of the cruise (extra charge for classes like Yoga and Pilates) and Zumba held in the fitness center rather than the basketball court and more frequently. It's the hottest workout right now and only offered twice during the cruise, during the hottest hours of the day by a sub-par instructor? RC could do much better there.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

We loved our balcony stateroom. Perfect size, bed was extremely comfortable.

Pros: Extremely kind staff, various activities and opportunity to see places we wouldn't normally see

Cons: Overall port experiences with high-pressure sales tactics
