Review Summary
The staff are excellent in the cabins, the dining facilities and throughout the ship. Do not book on this ship, Independence of the Seas, if you need to use the internet during your cruise. It very seldom worked. Guest services was continuously giving credits to everybody using it throughout the cruise. Also, since they send everything through their corporate facilities they block many secrured websites and all sites like Skype. In addition, the entertainment (nightly shows) were not very good. We actually walked out on some they were so bad. This included both the cruise line's singers and dancers as well as the guest entertainers. As the cruise went along, fewer people came each night. Finally, the ship seems to cater to families with children. Out of 4300 passengers there were over 1000 children. Towards the end of the cruise, they started putting employees in the elevators since the kids were playing in them (pushing every floor and holding them so people could not get an elevator). Finally, they treeat formal dress up nights in the dining room as optional. When we brought formal attire and saw people in shirts and shorts, we were shocked as every cruise we have been on the attire was a requirement, not optional. So if you do not want to dress up, you may not need to pack those formal clothes.Ship Experiences
