When we boarded the ship i was extremely let down. yes the ship is 25 years old and it shows. No luster of elegance or grandeur that one expects from cruiselines today. and to know that it cost the same price as the other ships...
next, being lead to the lido deck for food....piled in like cows to a feeding bin, reminded me of elementary school cafeteria. the selection of food wasnt much better, if hot line didnt interest you all that was available was pizza, and after 6 meals of pizza and salad....i was ready for something else. the dinner in the resturant was decent, but cold...i realize that they are trying to accomodate a mass of people but maybe on a newer ship the kitchen could accomodate the masses. the pools on deck were very small and due to the ships size(1/4) of a newer ship the ship rocked so hard that one could hardley walk much less swim(the water sloashed out of the pool with each wave). the seas were very calm to have so much motion. The only room on the ship to lie and rest and maybe tan was a small sun deck at the end of the ship and around the tiny pools, would have been nice to have decks on the sides of the ship to spead out more.(just an old ship) Room service was adequate, cold unmelted grilled cheese and limp BLTs. Games and activities on the ship were okay. casino was small but good. the 'clubs' on board were few and small. The staff for the most part TRIED to make up for the ship's age, with the exception of the pusser's desk that was extremely rude at most questions asked of them. having sailed with this cruiseline before i was let down, i had a guest with me that had never cruised before and he enjoyed himself, but was not impressed.

Pros: the size of our room, the dinner staff, at least they spoke enough english to understand them

Cons: the ship, lack of food choices, taste of food, noise of engines, lack of luster, rudeness of pusser's desk

Recommends Holiday (RETIRED)? No.

Cozumel, Mexico
because the excursions from the ship are sooo expensive, shopping is really the only thing to do. did manage to take a taxi to a near by beach...ok. went back to the ship 3 hours early hoping to swim in the pool and sun abit since the ship wasnt moving and the rocking and wind would be ok, they drained the pool while at port....took a nap instead.
Calica, Mexico
we docked at a gravel quarry! ok, ok it's mexico...i get it. we had planned an excursion to xcaret from the ship and where soooo excited, but the night before, the ship cancelled it. not being detoured, i inquiried if we could take a taxi there...the ship's response was no, beacause the park was closed! I had been to this park before and know for a fact that they dont close...went outside and took a taxi to xcaret and enjoyed the park. i was quite put out that the ship had told us that, if we had taken their word...we would have missed this beautiful park. i assume that xcaret isn't giving the cruiseline a big enough or any 'cuts', because the cruise really didnt advertise it....WHAT A WASTE! other than the park....there is NOTHING IN CALICA>
Don't Miss: Xcaret!!!! Everyone should go...something for everyone!
