A Detailed Review of Our December Cruise on Harmony of the Seas by bskramer48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Harmony of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As a point of reference, this is the 20th cruise for my wife and me and our 6th cruise on Royal Caribbean. Two years ago, we took a cruise on Oasis of the Seas, the sister ship to Harmony of the Seas. Our reason for booking this specific cruise was so my wife could participate in the Royal Poker Tournament Main Event. This specific event has been held for the past twelve years and recently it has taken place during the first two weeks of December on the Oasis of the Seas. In the past, the event has been two weeks long, but this year it was held only during the first week of December. The Conference Room on Deck 3 of the ship was converted to a Poker Room for both tournaments and cash games. My wife won an entry into the Royal Poker Tournament Main Event two years ago by winning a free cruise and tournament entry on another Royal Caribbean cruise. She enjoyed participating in the week-long poker event so much that she wanted to try it again. She was equally happy this year, and most likely we will attend this event in future years as long as Royal Caribbean continues to host it. The fact that the ship also stopped at the ports of Philipsburg in Saint Maarten, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Coco Cay in the Bahamas was a plus. In summary, we enjoyed the total experience and would enthusiastically recommend this ship and itinerary to any travelers who are looking for an excellent cruise with the bonus of a great poker room.

Awesome Caribbean Cruise by rheap29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I would recommend you take this cruise at least once in your life! The Captain kept us informed each day as to what was happening. Captain Johnny was a pretty cool guy yet I am partial to Harley riders.

We loved the ship and will look forward to going on it again. However, would not go to these ports again. Try to choose somewhere else the ship sails.

Fantastic cruise and ship by seawatergal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Harmony of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Getting on board was so easy! No waiting or lines. The app is wonderful for boarding and very useful during the cruise, as it has so many features. I could easily mark or delete what I wanted, able to reserve some on board activities and it was nice to have the use of messaging. Ship is very large but doesn’t feel crowded. So beautiful! Crew was one of the best and I think this was my 12th RC Cruise. The bar tenders in Boleros were the most entertaining. We kept going back there because it was so much fun! Of course all the food was fantastic. The only thing I missed or couldn’t find was a make your own omelet station...but so much to choose. We didn’t care for the Open Top Bus Tour. The people were nice, but couldn’t hear them, so we missed the info. And there were too many stops to shop. I would have preferred historical information. The Barcardi tour was booked up, so we chose the Make your own Rum drink tour and it worked out even better. Starts off as a walking tour with wonderful history given by an excellent guide. No shopping pushed! Ended with a Rum drink of our own choice and escorted back to the ship if we desired to stay with the group. Only wish there was more time to spend in PR! Coco Kay is beautiful and there was so much to do without the pay Water Park. Lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas! So relaxing, and wonderful walking pathways. But I miss the nature feel...I enjoyed it years ago when you could easily spot the wild life. Changed, yes, but this was still exceptionally a wonderful island. Shows were all over the top. Movies were a good selection. Such a great time! I want to return to Harmony and that says a lot as I have been on the Oasis 3 or 4 times. Sorry Oasis, but Harmony has won me over.

Great ship that forgets about the customer by chris23581543

It is a huge ship, and very nicely designed. If you are an early riser, then you may have some issues when it comes to food and drinks.

Just OK! by tdonahue37

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Harmony of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Disappointing. Very crowded. Hundreds of kids running around every day. Recommend NOT going the third week of January on Royal. Ship clean and employees very friendly and helpful. Dining room food was ok, not as hot as could be at times. Selection could be better. Windjammer very crowded and at times unorganized. Kids all over as well. Not able to use the Solarium restaurant this week, reserved all week for a special group. Too bad. Entertainment was great. Just get there early to get a good seat. Overall cruise was good, took three other couples and they have never been on a large ship like the Harmony. Probably will never do again. I had told them it would never seem like it was crowded, opps, that was a mistake. Oh well, now we know.

Should be a 5 by billd5000

Let me start off by saying that if I was only rating the ship, crew and staff, 5 stars wouldn’t be enough. Dwight our cabin steward was amazing, he greeted us warmly every time he saw us, asking how our day was, did we see this, did we try that or did we need anything and if we did need something he would do everything possible to get it. Dwight was a pleasure to meet. The same goes for our MDR waiter Kuljit and the assistant waiter Filip. They took care of us like we were family. It was an honor to have met both of them. The one time I needed to use guest services with help getting boarding passes and getting the luggage transferred to the airport, Nelia (I think that was her name) went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. On the last day aboard they had t-shirts for sale and my wife picked out a few, since there was a large line at all kiosks so I thought okay here’s my chance to get a little attitude from one of the staff, so I went into one of the fancy perfume shops that was empty to see if they would check out the t-shirts for me not only did I NOT get attitude I had a most pleasant conversation with the salesperson as she checked out my t-shirts and that’s how it was with every interaction with the staff and crew. Now the reason for the 4 stars and honestly, I’m being kind of generous. There was a group of over 2000 onboard that were absolutely the rudest people we have ever encountered. There was not one individual in the group that was not extremely rude. Their children were totally undisciplined, numerous times I saw a child from their group kicking their parents, screaming at them, and laying on the floor throwing tantrums, this group was disgusting, disrespectful, and disturbing. More than once my wife who has mobility issues was nearly knocked down by members of the groups children or parents chasing their children and of course not one apology. Sorry Royal Caribbean but I have to warn others about cruising with you in January because I understand that this is an annual thing. Seriously if you have booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean in January find out if this group is on board and cancel it if you can and chose a different ship. Not only are they disgusting and rude people but Royal gave them exclusive use of the Solarium Bistro so we were not allowed to eat there which was a bummer because I was really looking forward to trying it.
