Review summary

We have cruised many times on Royal Caribbean and other cruise lines and have never been disappointed. This was the first time we feel we were treated poorly by a cruise company. They actually lied to us. Guest services helped us speak to a manager and we were told we would get a full refund for our beach excursion to St John. We did not want to spend $205 to sit on the beach in the pouring rain. When we got home and the refund never appeared on my credit card I called Royal, spoke to a manager after an extremely long wait, I was told we were only receiving a 50% on board credit. We were lied to and that is unacceptable!

Shore excursion group was terrible. The weather was rainy in St Thomas and we were expected to spend $205 and sit on the beach in the rain. We were not offered to change for another excursion. We exited the ship into the pouring rain and had to make a split decision whether we wanted to go on our excursion or not. If we chose not to go on our excursion we only received a 50% on board credit for $102.50. We complained to the customer service desk on board the ship. The manager agreed to give us a full refund, 50% to on board credit and 50% to our credit card. When we got home we did not see the refund to our credit card. I called Royal Caribbean and they told me we were only receiving the 50% refund. I have nothing in writing from The ship and I am screwed! I would not book another excursion through Royal Caribbean their customer service is terrible and dishonest!

the mini golf was in poor condition. Other than that the sip was in good condition.

The cabin size and layout was good. The beds are extremely hard and very uncomfortable. Seems to be the same problem on every ship. Obviously this is a big problem because they provide lousy foam mattress toppers if they still have any available, but they do not help.

Ship tip

Be careful about booking a weather dependent excursion, you will loose 50% of your money if you do not want to sit on a beach in the rain.

I booker an excursion for the Thrills and Chill water park at Coco Cay and the weather was great for the 1st half but then a storm came and shut down the chills park and without requesting a refund from RCCL, I was refunded my park tickets by 9pm that same-day. I was informed by other guest that one should always confirm a refund before you disembark the ship or its a loss in some cases..just saying

You're pretty lucky to get half of your money back! If you read the fine print, I'm sure that it is written in there. If it was a Royal Caribbean cruise line excursion, Weather happens everywhere. I remember this one time. I drove to Tennessee for a Bristol truck race, and it was rained out. Maybe I should have asked to get my money back 😉

I went through the samething in regards to getting a refund but, customer service told us up front it could take 4 to 6 weeks for the money to refund back to our CC. 5 weeks we had our refund. We had to cancel a comped casino cruise because of a health issue. Thanks for sharing your review and hope you get your money back.

That’s terrible. How many people was that for? What would you have got for your money if you went? Going to the beach is usually close to free if you do it on your own.
