Overpriced experience. Felt I was on a timeshare sales pitch, but I didn't get anything for free. The ship over hareges for everything. I did the math and realized that I could have stayed in santorini on the beach for 10 days, ate like royalty, and still come home with more money than a week on the cruise

Royal Caribbean is quite the scam. At the request of my wife, we took an "all-inclusive" cruise to the Caribbean for our honeymoon on harmony of the seas from July 8-15. The cost for both of us was approximately 3800, pretty pricey for 7 days on a boat, but I thought, "why not, it's our honeymoon".
The ship looks as advertised. However, you spend the whole trip being bombarded, both on ship and at port, to buy garbage chotchkis. You are assuaged at every ten on the ship by "professional" photographers asking to take your photos that you are expected to purchase at the end of the trip. In addition, you are charged a mandatory 13.50 per day per person for tips (but still hit up by everyone to give additional tips) , when you order anything not included in the menu, an 18 percent tip is added (with a suggestion to offer more money), and if you want soft drinks, the package is $9.50 per person per day. If you want the alcohol package, the additional cost is 52.00 per person per day. If you want spotty and inslow wifi, the cost is 17 per device per day.
In addition, don't expect your luggage to be at your cabin when you get on the ship. I Waited 6 hours for my luggage.
The port at Labadee is simply an extension of royal Caribbean. The port in Jamaica is filthy with overaggressive people trying to sell you garbage. Cozumel is touristy, but the vendors don't harass you there.
My recommendation, if you want to relax - stay at a fancy hotel or true all inclusive and you will spend half the money you would have on a royal Caribbean cruise

Food was good. Drinks are a la crate or sold as an overpriced daily package price

People never leave you alone on a cruise ship. Hey royal Caribbean, sometimes it's ok to let people relax
Awww such a bummer to hear you didn't have an amazing time. We were on the Harmony in February on a Western. We had some family members that joined us and we all had a great time. For our family, this was not our first time on a larger ship. We were on the Oasis the previous year and sailed multiple Disney cruises. We actually were married on the voyager of the seas many years ago so I guess you can say we like cursing.....FYI. If you didn't like the prices on the Harmony.... you will fall off your chair when you see Disney's prices. With Rpyal, I didn't feel like they were trying to sell us anything I didn't want or felt harrassed at all. The food was good but the specialty dining was amazing. We are going on the Anthem of the seas in November and I imagine we will enjoy it just as much as we have enjoyed our cruises in the past. Maybe you can try a smaller more intimate ship and perhaps you may like it more for your family. Happy sailing.
Interesting just got back from an Alaskan cruise on Celebrity Solstice I felt like the ship was half full. Only felt packed going in and out of the Theater. Wonder how the Harmony Of The Seas is.
I call bs. The cruises are well priced and you go in knowing they charge more. Were you expecting everything free? Food is free. unless you go to speciality. shows are free. tons of free stuff. 10 days in one spot sounds terrible. For all you get its anything but over priced.
Send your hubby on brewery vacations and you enjoy your Diamond status with your girlfriends instead!! I enjoy craft beers as well and I do find it strange that they don't offer them. Even just a few would be nice!
Rickierocks, yes the March Harmony cruise will probably be the last with my hubby- I'm serious. He has already made that declaration! And I will just finally attain Diamond with that cruise! How ironic- and sad for me!
Your hubby will be disappointed, no craft beers :( It's surprising that they haven't included at least a couple of them to their bar menus. The Pub had the largest beer selection with some good imports but no craft. I hope your hubby doesn't stop cruising just because of beer, that would be silly!
I wonder where did you people buy this overpriced cruises? I'm going in September, paying 1000 p/p for ocean view balcony, on 7th floor, right in the center.
Good to hear!! Can you tell me if they had any craft beers on board the Harmony? After the Anthem had only 1 of the 7 advertised available, I may be facing the last cruise for my husband- yes, he is so much a beer snob!!
capttrips, I thought the same thing! Not sure how he is figuring out his math, it doesn't add up to me. Certainly 10 days in Santorini sounds grand but I couldn't be there that long. I like going to several places instead of just being stuck in one. I sailed on Harmony this April, stopped at 3 different ports and had a great time!! Looking forward to my next cruise this September :)
