Review summary

The meals in the main dining room for supper were superb and we ate there every night.  We had Any Time Dining but were lucky to have an exceptional server the first night who told us we could request her table.  The breakfasts and lunches were satisfactory but not spectacular and there didn't appear to be enough staff to clear the tables fast enough for the people who were waiting.  We mostly ate in the Solarium Bistro because it was smaller and a little easier to find a table and they often ran out of silverware, plates, food but would replenish as soon as they could.  The aqua shows we absolutely loved!  The stage shows were fine -- performed by very talented people.  The ice show was not to our taste and we could have given it a miss.  We found that there was a lot to do onboard.  Almost all staff was very friendly but surprisingly a bit inexperienced.  It was easy to find our way around the ship but this was our first cruise on an Oasis class and we found that there were too many people on board to be comfortable.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room for supper was outstanding but for breakfast wasn't great. Breakfast/lunch we went to Solarium Bistro -- the food was pretty good. Went to Windjammer for breakfast once and almost didn't get a table. They ran out of coffee, mugs, etc. We didn't go back there.

We had an inward-facing balcony that overlooked Central Park because we wanted to see what that would be like. We'd never do that again. Deck 10 is only 2 decks above the Park and so there was some noise at night when we were trying to sleep. In addition, even though I could see the sky and know what time of day it was, I couldn't see the ocean from our balcony and didn't realize I'd miss it. It was a great room, though, with lots of storage.

Ship tip

Book everything before you get on board: mealtimes, entertainment, spa services -- everything you possibly can. You may be able to do things once you get on board if you have no reservations but then again, maybe not. Better to have the reservations.

Once I'd found out from our tour guide that cock-fighting is still legal and regularly done on the French side of the island (St Martin), I wished I hadn't spent any money there. I would have spent it all in St Maarten, the Dutch side. There's certainly enough good shopping there.
