Beautiful Bermuda by JMyers75

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The best part of this trip was being with our family. I do wish we had more time in port! We took the ferry to Hamilton $9 round trip pp. It was a nice opportunity to view the coastline. Great service on the ship.

New England and Canada Cruise by Mary49

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Loved the cruise. Just wish we had more time in the ports. Would have liked to have done more in Boston. This will have to be a separate vacation for us.

Cruising on the Grandeur by drpritchard2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a consecutive cruise for us, The staff was very nice. The Loyalty Ambassador was very helpful (Martin). I had brief encounters with both captains and did not find them particularly friendly (two different captains for the two cruises). The Itinerary was good St. Maartin, St Thomas, Labadee and San Juan. The weather from and to Baltimore was somewhat rough but I understand this is not unusual for this time of the year. I would do this cruise again but probably from a port further south.

Cruising on the Grandeur by drpritchard2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

A nice ship with good crew. The ports were all good and typical of many caribbean cruises. The 10 day gives you days at sea. Some people enjoy days at sea and we do.  The entire experience was a good one. RCCL has continued to cut back on some of the perks but infrequent cruisers will not notice.

I want to go again! by valcin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This is only my 2nd cruise, and both have been on the Grandeur of the Seas, but I am already planning my 3rd and 4th cruise on her, as well! I may not have any other cruises or ships to which i can compare, but I know excellent food when I eat it, and I know exemplary, perfect service when I receive it. Thanks to the Grandeur and her Staff, I have had 2 wonderful cruise experiences, and will look forward to future cruises!

Wonderful time by dmallough

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship itself showed a little wear and tear like many others mentioned in their reviews, but it didn't matter at all! And our cruise returned to Baltimore on April 24 and the boat was being drydocked for refurbishing anyway. I'll start at the beginning.  I found embarkation and check in to be a breeze.  As soon as we stepped on board we sat in the Centrum because rooms were not yet ready, but we were offered a drink immediately while we waited! They offer a drink of the day each day and you get to keep the glass!  I was expecting the room to be tiny - we booked a room with a balcony so we would feel less cramped but honestly I thought it was plenty of room to sleep which is really all you do in there!  The bathroom was tiny.. barely enough room in the shower, but sufficient and CLEAN!  I did have a pillow with a funky smell but I requested a new one and they replaced it easily and quickly.  CLEAN was most important to us.. turn down service every night.. they always left clean towels and often made towel animals. Loved the balcony - we didn't spend much time in the room but it was absolutely wonderful to hear the ocean and one day we woke early and watched the sunrise.  We did a 7 day cruise and there were plenty of storage spots to unpack for 4 of us!  The kids LOVED the kids clubs.  They had a nursery for the really young  - I think 2 and under? They also had another room for kids 3-12 I believe.  They do separate them for activities.  My son fell into the 9-11 range and they offered activities for the kids nearly all the time. Regular activities ended at 10 but at 10:15 they had gagaball tournaments. You had to pay $7/hr past 10 but the kids had such a great time it was worth it - he stayed every night!  My daughter participated in the teen club and she also enjoyed the activities offered, I think she especially loved the freedom and cool factor - their parties started very late (10 or 11 most nights) and ship curfew was 1am.  The rock wall was awesome too. The only thing this ship was lacking that we really wished they had was a sport court.  I am sure that would have made this cruise much better for the slightly older kids like my son. While he spent alot of time in the kids club not all the activities interested him so he did find himself bored a few times.  The arcade was very very small too. They should offer more video game consoles if they aren't going to upgrade that area - we were left with the impression that only the teens could use the ones they had in the teen club area.  I think it's true that this ship usually draws an older crowd- it's not very big but this was our first cruise and it was perfect for us. We didn't feel like the kids would get lost and we didn't have to walk forever to get to anything.  We went during spring break though so there were around 500 children on our voyage. Plenty of friends to make.  The shows were phenomenal!  We loved all the comedy shows- there were 3 on our trip.  The band that played in the Centrum every evening had a very talented lead singer.  There was always something going on - so many activities- usually something for everyone.  There were movies and a casino and plenty of bars.  I think they said 2200 passengers aboard and it was never crowded except when trying to use the main elevators.  I've never experienced slower elevators!  But if that's my worst complaint that's pretty good!  I thought the cruise director and activities director were very personable and funny - lots of energy.  They provided a compass everyday which was a list of all the activities and other things going on.  The food for the most part was very good.  Everything was fresh and of good quality.  The absolute best part of the cruise was the service.  Everyone was friendly and happy to help. Our room attendant, Steve was awesome.  Our dinner servers in the main dining room were fantastic.  They really made the cruise more enjoyable.  They were always smiling. Always acted happy to see us.  They were on top of everything -they knew right away if one of us wasn't happy with a meal, they knew when we wanted more and they memorized what we all drank after only 1 night!  Raj and Victor were the absolute BEST!

7 days is a long time to be on a cruise - there were plenty of activities but only 2 pools and one of them was only for adults. The main pool was kind of small so I recommend if you go on a longer cruise like we did, book some excursions or at least get off the boat at each stop and just walk around.  In Port Canaveral we did an airboat ride.  It was marketed as more of a wildlife tour but we barely saw any gators.. It was more about the boat ride which was fun. After they gave us gator bites.. I wasn't brave enough to try them but everyone else said they were good. They also had a wildlife talk and let the kids hold some of the animals there which they liked.  For a country who relies on tourism I didn't find Nassau to be the friendliest place unless you were in the straw market to purchase things. Those people were your best friends. We did the 1/2 day adventure in Atlantis.  That was one of the most beautiful places I've seen.  1/2 day was plenty of time for just doing the water park. There was a beach and supposedly a beautiful aquarium there, but we didn't have enough time to explore it all.  I wish the cruise lines gave you more than just 1 day on the island.  We made it to Cocokay! We were pretty excited about that because the cruises before us never made it because of weather, but we had an absolutely gorgeous day there and it was really a beautiful island. The water was a bit cold but the kids didn't mind at all.  The beach was clean, there were more than enough chairs, there were bars right on the beach, and the lunch was pretty good. We did the jetski tour there. SOO much FUN!  highly recommend. I had never done it before and was terrified to be at sea with my 14yo on the back but it was a blast.  Notes: The ship will allow you to borrow their towels but if you don't return them they charge you $25 so you don't need to bring any.  NO ONE except the straw market vendors in Nassau takes cash. In Atlantis they would only take credit cards.  Everywhere else you could only use your seapass card so aside from extra tips you'd like to give out as you go, you really don't need to bring much cash.  Hope someone finds this review helpful!

New England cruising: May 26 - June 4 by midwesterners

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We did this cruise in conjunction with a 7-day visit to DC and a 2-day visit to Hershey, PA, driving from the St. Louis area.  I had never been to DC or to New England, so it was a treat to see so much on vacation and make the drive really worthwhile.  We are active seniors, but this was a little tiring for us.  The weather was sometimes cool, often foggy, even rainy, but we were in Boston in record heat. We were not enthused with Boston, but that could be because of our visit to DC just before the cruise. We loved Bay Harbor and Halifax, and enjoyed walking around Portland and St. John.  Baltimore was an easy port, and embarking & disembarking were easy.

We had never cruised on RC, being partial to Princess and HAL, but this route was perfect for us. RC is not in the same class as our favs, but it was still a good cruise. The staff was attentive and cheerful, John and Katrina Blair were great, the Great Gatsby (we did MyTime dining but requested a table with servers Melroy and Victor each night) had delicious & well-prepared food, and the ship was well-maintained. We enjoyed the musical entertainment; we did not attend the comedians or game shows. There were some opportunities for us to dance a bit, which is always a plus. The Windjammer food was repetitive and disappointing, the port information was scanty both on line and on ship, and we packed extra clothes for the Smart Casual evenings which never happened.  Still, it was a good cruise and a decent value.

Big surprise of how this small ship is wonderful! by idohair4u

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We went on the Grandeur March 31, 2015. I knew it was a small ship, the smallest that I have ever been on , and was a little concerned about there being enough to do, rocking, etc. What a BIG surprise! I LOVE this ship!  Smaller means less people, ALWAYS something going on in the Centrum, easy to get around, a cozier feel, if that is a way to put it haha. This ship does not disappoint!  The musical entertainment was superb at the nightly shows and more so in the centrum during the day and evening. I was amazed after being a little let down with these things on other ships in the past.  The nightly shows were fabulous, except for the first night comedian, He was so bad people left and they could have let him off before he even got on they way most of us saw it. Not even REMOTELY funny.  Our stateroom was exceptionally clean I am the kind that takes my lysol spray AND wipes and does the whole room before  I touch anything. From the drawers in the whole stateroom to the shelves in the bathroom to the top of the closets, I got nothing!  I mean not even a trace of dust!!  Kurt, our cabin steward, was wonderful.  Room service was top notch, as was everyone we came in contact with. The photo gallery guy was not real friendly, but he was ok.  I can't wait to travel on it again :) My last RC cruise on the explorer a few years ago was a nightmare. Worst cruise ever. So bad I said never again to RC.. but this cruise surely changed my mind!  LOVE the Grandeur!

First Royal Caribbean cruise by nightrider

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

I tried to be as honest and fair as Possible with this review. I rely a lot on Ship Mate reviews for my future cruises. So I understand the importance of an honest review. This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise I’ve done. I’ve also did a Costa cruise and carnival. I will most definitely be sticking with the carnival cruise line! After doing 11 carnival cruises I realized that carnival definitely knows Exactly what people want.

Lady G Does NOT Disappoint by LytehouseLovers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

As an adult daughter/mother (both taken) cruise, this was fantastic. There are not a lot of singles on this cruise so we didn't feel like we were on some sort of party ship. We wanted to relax and enjoy each other's company before daughter gets married. There is plenty to do on this ship if you are looking for activities. The staff is the BEST in the seven seas. We love the Lady G, and will be sailing on her again in the next 11 months.

9 days of pampering in paradise! by valcin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 3rd cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas. I am on a walker, and I can handle the walking on board. I feel the ship offers many activities that I CAN do, so I am not focused on what I can't do. The entertainment, casino, movies, and all of the other activities kept me busy, and the food was wonderful! I had planned on just staying on the ship, but I was able to do a little shopping right off the piers at Grand Bahama, Nassau, and Cococay. The Crew of the Grandeur is wonderful! This was the first time I got the drink package, and it was well worth it. Not only did it include wine and mixed drinks, but it included premium coffees, bottled water, sparkling water, and soda, so it was well worth it!
