This 14 day cruise included 10 Ports of calls. We have done excursions on all of the stops and enjoyed interfacing with the locals and experiencing their culture. We had a very memorable time that we will cherish for many years.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarkation process included COVID testing in the cruise terminal. Testing slowed down the boarding process somewhat but it proceeded rather smoothly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The menu in the MDR was enhanced for the 14 day cruise. There were new items on the menu that that were not available on typical 7 day cruise. Food quality was good. Windjammer food was excellent with adequate choices. Pizza was only available in the Solarium bistro after 3:00 PM. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants except for breakfast in the Chops Grille which was complimentary for suite guests.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The onboard activities were limited on this category of ship due to its size (smallest ship in the RCCL fleet). We spent most of our time at the solarium relaxing. We also used the fitness center which was small and had limited equipment.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment on this ship was not great. Theater was only open for one show daily at 9:30 Pm. We would have preferred an earlier show. We did not enjoy most of the headliner shows nor the production shows. The musicians, however, were good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service from all of the staff was excellent. All ship personnel were very friendly and accommodating.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This ship is old and needs updating. It shows it’s wear and tear. It could have been better maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our grand suite cabin did not have a balcony but it was very, very spacious (450 sq. ft.). It also had two full size bathrooms and a second bedroom. More than adequate for our needs. The location was on the 8 floor in the front of the ship. We would have preferred a mid ship location.
Ship tip
The ship is small and is prone to bumpy sailing. Choose a midship location.
Thanks for sharing your cruise insights. I read recently where the Grandeur of the Seas was on the selling block pre-covid. I hope lovers of the vision class ships will encourage RCCL to refurbish these ships rather than sell them.
