It was a family cruise with a group of 12. We had just cruised on the Ovation in August, so this ship was much smaller and had a lot less options all the way around. But that was expected. However, you couldn’t help but reminisce about the Ovation. The staff on arm the Grandeur was all great. Vicky in the Crown Lounge was a great bartender that cares about the people she was serving. We would do it again though.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The Baltimore terminal was remarkably well organized. The only knock was parking. It was very confusing and the person helping us just abandoned his post and cars were going everywhere.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining room was great. The biggest issue was the lack of food late in the evening. The only option was in the solarium. And the food there wasn’t nearly as good as the other Royal ships we’ve been on.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Rock climbing was good. The staff tried hard having other stuff too. But the small ship had limited options.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
They all did well. The only knock was the piano bar (Schooner) performer wasn’t that great.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was all exceptional.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It was clean but clearly old and needed a lot of repairs.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was typical for a cruise ship. Nice but dated. Shower curtain rather than glass door wasn’t good. The water went right out onto the floor.
Ship tip
It is better for people without kids due to the size and lack of activity.
