Review summary

Overall as not good because we were limited by bad weather. I thought the communication that we received along the way was not accurate regarding the plan, arrival time at ports, etc.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Not great! This was our first cruise and only made it to one of the 3 scheduled stops.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining service staff was great. Drink prices were very expensive and to buy a drink package required all adults in the room to purchase the plan. My wife doesn’t drink, so that didn’t make sense for us.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
We have two small children and the activities for them was limited. And since we had bad weather, was extra time on the boat with little for them to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
More adult focused, but overall were pretty decent.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
My kids did not like it. Very basic and little for them to do.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Overall dining and room attendant was great. Can’t co plain at all there.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We don’t have a lot of experience to compare, but was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Very small. We were not expecting how the small the room was going to be. Was very tight for two adults and two kids.

Ship tip

If you have kids, probably want to take a larger boat so there is more for them to do.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Missed due to weather

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Was very nice

Nassau, Bahamas

1 out of 5
We got there at 11:00pm and were allowed off the boat for 1.5 hours at night.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Wasn’t good because of the weather and limited activities for kids.

Sorry you didn't do proper research, but don't give up on cruising. If you call the cruise line, they will work with you on the drink packages.

It's an old and small ship. It's not geared towards children. A quick Google search will tell you that. Heck, the website you're USING RIGHT NOW makes that abundantly clear! So complaining about the lack of kids programs and how small the rooms are is a YOU problem.

Was also on that sailing. Grandeur is a small ship. Oasis class and freedom class more geared to families with little ones. And anthem class more towards older kids. Did you use a TA. Some one could have bought alcohol.package and other could have bought soda or coffee package. I was annoyed that we even stopped in nassau. We had to pay port charges so ship could restock. And switch out chemicals. Im sorry this was your first cruise. It definately was a different cruise for us. This was not the normal. And yes rooms are small, especially on the older ships. We try to get junior suites. Bigger rooms. Don't give up on cruising. Try sailing first week dec, or march to may.

Sorry for such a hectic trip, don’t give up on cruising just yet.

When the cabin is small I basically think of going camping in a tent, close but lots of fun! I feel that we shouldn't miss out on enjoying ourselves because of slight inconveniences!

You make the best out of a situation unforeseen things happen from time to time I would try it again trust me cruising is fun.

Its still hurricane season. The Atlantic ocean can be unpredictable that's why cruises are cheaper this time of the year. Grandeur is one of the smallest ships, it's meant for those who want to relax.

When you cruise you are at the mercy of weather. Sometimes you hit bad weather. You had the misfortune of hitting it first cruise. You cannot fault Captain for not porting in bad weather. Cruise ships can safely handle a lot of weather under power in open sea but not trying to Port as safety of passangers and ship is Captain's job.
