Review summary
We have cruised 10 times now and plan to do more when we retire. Nine of the ten were to Bermuda. This was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean, and overall it was a good cruise. The Staff was great! Better than the other cruise line we usually use. State rooms were fair and the mattress need to be upgraded/changed. Entertainment was ok, however the comedians were great! Poor Late night food, small gym, and rock climbing wall. There was a sewer smell in the hallways all the time (Needs to be addressed!) Since we have sailed to Bermuda nine times and lived their for thirteen years we know that the cruise ships can make it there in 1 1/2 days depending on the size of the ship so they could get there sooner and have more time on the island (but it is really the island that makes that call, not the cruise line). Kings wharf is too far from the good places on the island. The island needs to make improvements in Hamilton so more cruise ships can dock there and be centrally located to most of the attractions. I also hate to see the five day cruises to Bermuda and less of the seven days, which in a couple of years most of the cruise lines who travel to the island will be going too!

I agree Bucher!! I guess you can go the other way on the ferry too (Hamilton/St. George) to West End! I loved it when we were able to dock in Hamilton right on Front Street. But now what we do is take the ferry over, eat and party and ferry back. Rented scooters a few times but feel safer using a taxi or the ferry. We love Bermuda and are looking at cruises from where we live (Florida) to the Island. And we found a few believe it or not! Their just a bit pricey now. Would rather have the money to spend on the Island. Cheers :)

CrusinTim We lived there for many years and understand how long and how wide the island is :) We have docked just in Hamilton many many years ago and you can see everything just as if you would have docked in the West End and also just in St. Georges which we have done before. It has been very sad seeing St. Georges loose is glory as to what is was when we lived there because of ships coming to Dock there and also the departure of the U.S. Military hit the entire island hard. I can remember when the Kings Wharf was just a spot where no one went and now it is a beautiful place due to the cruise terminal. We are very aware of the problem with the coral reefs. Our suggestion may have not been apparent to you, The cruise lines are going to mega ships and are missing such wonderful opportunities on smaller ports. I for one love the smaller ships vs the Mega ships. Just my opinion :)
Acreary2@verizon.net As CrusinTim stated taking the ferry from West End to St. Georges should be on your list of to-do's. While their try to visit the historical sites and save visiting shops for Hamilton. There is a train which is guided that takes you around St.Georges that is very fun and interesting to take for a fee. Don't forget the Dunking Stool and Noon while you are at that end of Bermuda! Fun to watch :) The bus pass also allows you to take the ferry to Hamilton and St. Georges. Due your research before you leave on the cruise so you don't miss what you love to do. Some love the beeches, and some love the sites. You can do both if you use your time wisely. Hamilton is great for shopping and also have many historical sites to visit. It is always a nice thing to climb to the top of Gibbs Hill Light House and see just about everything! Try the crystal caves. At Kings Wharf there are also shops in the mall but you can see most of those in Hamilton and they are much larger. You will have a wonderful visit on such a beautiful island!

I remember when we cruised to Bermuda years ago, we were able to go to all 3 ports (St. George, Hamilton & Kings Warf). But that was back when the ships were smaller. As you know from living there, the biggest issues are the coral reefs that should not be disturbed and in St. George, the turning basin there is too small for many of the mega-liners to negotiate. Taking the ferry from West End to Hamilton or St. George to me is part of the experience as is an excursion that goes from West End to Hamilton traveling down the roads and through the parishes that could be missed if the ship only ported in Hamilton. The Island is only 22 miles long and 3 miles wide so with 3 days in West End, there should be more than enough time to plan your days.
