Our First Cruise!

Sail Date: February 01, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We were pleased to meet several who prefer the ship and return often. Embarkation process was VERY slow and not explained.

Pros: RESTING\, watching the sea\, meeting new people\, unplugging

Cons: cold weather and water\, very windy

Recommends Grandeur of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
Pleasant dcor\, plenty of walking and stairs\, so we rarely took elevator for the exercise\, very clean\, needed more areas to recline and read a book quietly other than our room.
Food and Dining
Very tasty\, a little underwhelmed with after hours snack bar\, did not like paying for soft drinks\, iced tea was weak\, hot teas were great\, coffee plenty strong. Specialty Asian restaurant was tasty but overpriced\, although service was very good. We quickly learned we preferred wait staff in top left area of Gatsby\, due to quality of service\, pleasant and courteous staff\, food served hot\, water glasses filled\, not overly fussy yet attentive. Indian food on buffet was TASTY!!!
Cabin / Stateroom
LOVED turning over at night and peeking out window to watch the sea\, comfy bed and sheets\, bathroom recently renovated\, glad we brought chip clips to attach to bottom of shower curtain to help minimize leaks\, as well as travel spray air freshener. Lots of storage\, convenient dressing table.
Service and Staff
Wait staff were best\, stateroom steward was fun to talk with\, all very pleasant and helped us truly relax.
Limited performances due to rocking ship. Felt they should have been prepared with more alternative activities\, even a movie in the theater would have been helpful - something for adults\, not just kids. Dancing exhibitions and Spectrum (50's music) were amazing!
