Review Summary

This was an unusual cruise and hopefully, an atypical one for this ship. This was the last cruise for this ship out of Baltimore and the ship was delayed by 11 hours due to weather conditions (the bay was closed). The weather also caused extreme motion for the majority of the cruise (20 foot swells) and reduced our stay in Bermuda to less than 6 hrs. Although all of these factors were out of the cruiseline's control, their response was not; and it was poor. We were told by our contact that we needed to get down to the pier ASAP. However, Royal Caribbean turned everyone away, telling us that the parking lot would not even open until 9pm. We returned at 8pm to find a crowded parking lot, long lines, no extra consideration for the long wait, and everything in chaos. They had to bring in additional crews to man the terminal (from NY and NJ), and the service was extremely poor. I think that the motion throughout the cruise was severe enough that the crew was as affected as the passengers. [They literally had to put barf bags out for the passengers. ] The majority of the food was poor, as was the restaurant service. We had to wonder if the main cooks were ill, if some of the crew had been given pink slips, or if a significant portion of the employees had just given up on receiving good tips and weren't even trying. Although the apathy appeared pervasive, it probably only affected 1/4 of the crew - but enough to make this our worst cruise experience. We were not alone in our opinion. Everywhere we turned we heard similar comments from passengers, especially from those who had been on numerous cruises. We had a great time despite this, because we were a group of 8 and were not going to allow the poor service to ruin our vacation. Unfortunately, this was the first cruise for 4 of them, and I'm not sure they'll ever take another one.

Very poor. Every other cruise I've been on had outstanding food at every meal. I would only rate 2 dishes during the entire 5 day cruise as outstanding.

Service and Staff

There was an extreme lack of communication. Our group was celebrating a recent wedding and had paid extra for a service, photographer, etc. Almost everything got screwed up. There were too many minor screw ups to detail; for example we paid the gratuities ahead of time but had to stand in line anyway b/c the vouchers were never put in our stateroom. (This happened to numerous passengers.). We also had to request a survey form b/c these were also (conveniently) NOT placed in many of the rooms.

Ship Quality

The ship itself was fine, however there was noticeable lack of cleaning in the common areas. Routine messes were sometimes not cleaned for a day. Again, it appeared that the ship was extremely short-staffed and unable to keep up with the cleaning.
