4 Night Western Caribbean (Tampa Roundtrip) Sail Date: February 14, 2008 Ship: Grandeur of the Seas Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 9 years ago
This was a last minute getaway, and a Valentines Day trip.
It was excellent from the time we stepped into the ship terminal where we were greeted by a whole cast of friendly staffers and all kinds of cookies to the time we sadly had to depart and head back home.
The ship was huge and offered something for everyone. Just as everyone whose been on a cruise will tell you, the food is fantastic and you can pretty much eat whenever and whatever you want.

The food was excellent - The buffets seemed never ending and the food was quite tasty and there was always something for everyone. Even midnight hamburgers and pizza.

Where to start - There was always, and I mean always something going on. I would recommend not to miss the Adult Game Show which was held our first night. To funny!!

Just the friendliest crew on the ocean. No matter what the request the crew did everything they could to make our cruise the best.

The ship was huge! - 3 Restaurants, 2 Discos, a Piano bar, a Sports Bar, a Theater, a Rock Climbing wall, a Casino, 2 Pools, 6 Hot Tubs, a Spa, a Fitness Center, a 1/2 dozen places to shop.

We paid the little more for a private balcony (so glad we did). We would relax and just watch the ocean go by when we would leave port. The room was very clean, the linens were soft as was the bed. Shampoo, Soap, and a Hair dryer were all supplied. Our room was located at the very front of the ship. Don't be surprised, it's not huge, but we never felt closed in.
We decided to book a shore excursion for Cozumel, Mexico. There were so many to choose from, but we wanted just a touch of adventure. We settled on the "mini-Jeep" tour. Wow this was an excellent experience, recommend it highly. You and your partner get your very own Yamaha Rino "mini-Jeep" and get guided through Punta Sur nature preserve. We drove right along the beach to a great and safe snorkeling spot (don't worry about your valuables it's very safe). From there we rode through and got a chance to stop and see the Salt Water crocodiles, the old light house (even got to climb it - what a view!), and we also stopped and checked out an old Mayan temple/weather station. This was just to fantastic and my words can't explain how fun this was.
Don't Miss: DON'T MISS THE MINI-JEEP TOUR !! - Really.
In Key West we chose not to purchase a shore excursion. We decided to do our own walking tour using our own hand held GPS since Key West is basicaly only a mile across and a mile long. The port was basically 4 blocks from the heart of Key West making it very conveinent.
We stopped into Margaritaville, Captain Tony's & The Green Parrot for drinks as we walked the couple of miles to see the Hemingway House, The Key West Cemetary, The Southern Most house in the USA, and of course the Southern Most Point of the Continental, USA. Walking gave us an excellent chance to see many of the homes and experience the uniqueness of the back streets of Key West. Very Awsome, just wished we had about 3 more hours before we had to set sail.
Don't Miss: Just take a walk in Key West - Save for your Cozumel shore excursion.
Pros: All the great people we met
Cons: Wished we had just a few more hoursin each port
