Review Summary

Cabin: C752 rear facing balcony cabin Overall, the trip was relaxing, slow paced and what I expected... As many have pointed out the ship is dated and tired (not a surprise to me since I researched all of this prior to booking). Also, the princess brand caters to an older clientele, again expected. Let me start with the great aspects: Service, service, service.... Fantastic cabin Stewart Marlon, everything was taken care of perfectly, even opened and held the door for me often when entering my cabin, really a top notch man. The dining room servers about 90% of the time were absolutely wonderful and the head waiter Renzo always went out of his way to greet us and make sure we were well attended. My friend traveling with me has a gluten and lactose allergy both were accommodated for her in the main dining room every time. Renzo also really went above and beyond for my birthday to make sure I got my Caymus wine bottle just as I requested. If you really want to enjoy a nice evening, the wheelhouse bar is the place to be; warm wood paneling, dance floor, big comfortable chairs and large promenade windows make it a perfect hangout. Wheelhouse bar was the only bar that made my drink perfectly nearly every time. The rhapsody trio violinist was stellar and I made a point to listen to his fine musical talent. I’m aware princess switches out their crew often, but if your fortunate enough to run into the server Franky at the wheelhouse, you’ll find him to be fun, engaging and eager to learn. Cabin wise, I could not have been happier, best cabin on the ship in my opinion, rear facing with a little side view is perfect for less motion and fantastic views. A few less desirable aspects of the trip: A broken water pipe of some kind in the wheelhouse bar left the floor saturated for a few days... water on deck seven of a cruise ship.... not what I want to see... Endless heckling for photo ops... which slows the disembarkation process Embarkation at all the ports were arduous and disorganized (with the exception of the embarkation of San Francisco) I only have one major complaint... We finally decided to try the wine tasting even, since the crew was genuinely thrilled about how wonderful it was at every waking moment... So finally we booked with a friendly lunch waiter. He wrote specifically on our ticket one tasting must include gluten and lactose free pairing. When we got to the pairing the tasting was neither lactose or gluten free, when we kindly pointed this out to the wine server he stated “That’s not my fault that’s under the kitchens control, there’s nothing I can do” and walked away. I could barely hear the wine announcers and their pairings, so I asked the same waiter which pairing go with which appetizer I got the response of “any of them” in a very blasé manner. I’m a huge wine fan, know my tastings and my wines. What the waiter said is not correct and by that point both myself and my guest had been disenchanted by the event. It would be only fair to mention I wrote compliment cards for all the people mentioned above and one complaint card regarding the wine tasting event. Had princess been on top of things and rectified the wine tasting situation on board I would not have written about it publicly, but instead their response was nothing.... no response, so now the world can read, don’t waste an hour of your time on their wine tasting event with poor service and below average wines.
