My girlfriend and I traveled alone, leaving the kids at home! This was our very first cruise of any kind, so we had absolutely nothing to compare it to. But, after booking, we did "meet" several people on-line who gave us a lot of info about what would happen.Upon arrival in Ft. Lauderdale, the transfer was a bit messed up...no organization...and we made a mental note to take a taxi next time...about the same cost. But it was not a terrible experience.Going through embarkation was a breeze...took about 20 minutes or so, and people were very friendly.Room (a mini-suite with balcony) was way better than we expected! Big and roomy, and we loved the balcony!Ship was in excellent condition. We did not notice anything that was in need of repair. We did see deck hands repairing a couple of things during the week, but very unobtrusively.Food service was excellent. We had personal choice dining, which worked very well for us. We also ate at the Painted Desert one night (excellent food and service) and Sabitini's the last night (again, excellent service and food). We ate most nights at the DaVinci dining room, but tried the Michaelangelo one night, thinking it was a different menu, which it wasn't. But the food was very good.Entertainment was very good...not Las Vegas or New York equivalent, but very good all the same. One of the comedians, James "the kid" Michaels was incredible and FUNNY! Some "not to miss" entertainment in my mind would be James Michaels, the London Pub night (almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard), galley tour (schtick comedy between head chef and head maitre d' was hilarious), and the "horse racing" was very funny.Had no kids with us, so no comment on kids programs.Disembarkation was a bit chaotic, but we were so relaxed and our flight did not leave until late afternoon, so we did not mind. The only bummer...we want to do the same trip next April with one of our children, but the Grand will be elsewhere! We absolutely loved the ship!
