The new personal choice was a plus and a minus. We loved being able to go when we felt like it, but not having the same wait staff every night was disapointing. We really didn't get the same royalty treatment that we had had in the past Princess cruise. The food was excellent, but the waiters/assist. waiters were definately not working as well for a tip, since the ship is now charging you a $6.50 per person, per day charge for tips, no matter what your service is like. We found that the incentive to provide superior attention was lost. We would of been happy to extra tip had it been warranted, but it was not. We went on the 1/21/01--first time out Personal Dining--so maybe it'll get better. The on board entertainment was pretty good. Billy Vadar and the other headliner commedian were great, we only got to see one of the vegas type shows, the weather didn't allow the second one to happen, and the poor young juggler/comedian was dying on stage. Felt sorry for him and all of us.Nice experience, but won't go back on the Grand. Sea Princess was more glamorous--much taller atrium and lobby areas. Lovely experience, if you're already booked on this one, but we'll probably go back to RCCL or HAL again, next time.KY
