Room Type: Balcony

We recently cruised to Alaska with the Princess Cruise Line and were disappointed. The staterooms were more than I expected but the food was fair at best, the staff was not as friendly as I have experience on other cruise lines and there was a lack of activities and entertainment in the daytime.

There was a great deal of upselling on all kinds of things offered by the ship. At one point I felt a little harassed.

Pros: Cabin was very nice.

Cons: Food was fair, friendlyness of staff was fair, port of calls too quick, lack of activity in day.

Recommends Golden Princess? No.

Food and Dining
I thought the food was fair to poor. Not very tasty and the options were very limited.
Not many options, not a lot to choose from.
Ship Quality
Children's Programs
They did a great job with the Children's Programs. I sailed with a 15 and 10 year old. Their programs were ready to go as soon as we walked into our cabin. There was something for them to do all day and night long. This was wonderful.
Service and Staff
The majority of the staff were accommodating but did not go above and beyond. Our bags never made it to our cabin and our cabin stewart told us to "go get them our selves". The wait staff for as a majority did not seem to go above and beyond either. The bar waiters in the Martini Bar were exceptional.
Cabin / Stateroom
The stateroom was the best part of the cruise. Excellent.
Skagway, Alaska
Nothing spectacular here. Could have skipped this town. Not much to see.
Don't Miss: Zip Lining or Yukon Tour
Juneau, Alaska
I thought this was the best port. The shopping was wonderful. The food restaurants were crowded because there werer 3 ships in port at the same time. The excursions were excellent here.
Don't Miss: Helicopter / Glacier Walk or Whale Watching
Ketchikan, Alaska
Snorkling in Ketchikan Alaska was excellent. Not many people realized what a great experience this was. Very small town with few shops. Again very over crowded because 3 ships were in at the same time. Did not spend much time here and felt very rushed and tired.
Don't Miss: Snorkling.
