Great Anniversary Trip

Sail Date: July 24, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We were celebrating our 15th anniversary and selected Princess because of the destinations and price. We were very happy with the amenities on board and pleased with the ports and excursions. They made it very easy to find activities on board as well at each port. The down side seemed to be in the area of food, service, and entertainment. The food was good, and there was plenty of it, however it did seem to get repetitious. There was new items on the menu, and new things on the buffet, however, we just lost interest in the food because it all looked and smelled the same. Additionally in the any time dining, we found the service to be sub par. Our expectation was that we would be catered to, greeted with a smile, interacted with in a positive way, and overly cared for. What we found was a crew that appeared tired, distracted, and at some points seemed to "tolerate" us. Possibly because we weren't ordering/paying for additional beverages - regardless. It didn't exceed our expectations. Additionally, we went to a few of the "shows" on board. They were good and helped to fill some of the time. However it just didn't seem to be as "broadway" quality as other cruise experiences we've had. We would certainly do Princess again, but having a proper perspective on these items may help us lower our expectations to begin with. :)

Pros: Awesome Excursions

Cons: Repetitious Menu

Don't Miss: Alaska Adventure wildlife tour
Ketchikan, Alaska
Don't waste your time on the "incline" It's not really described well and basically it's a $4.00 elevator.

Great port! Loved Juneau.
Don't Miss: ERA Helicopter tour and glacier walk. Whale watching tour aboard "Whale Tale."
