A fabulous vacation

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Suite

This was our first cruise. We went as a family of 4 (kids age 11 and 7) and had no idea what to expect. I don't believe we could have expected this much out of a 7 day vacation. Our stateroom was bigger than expected. The staff was over the top right from the first moment we stepped aboard the Golded Princess. All of our needs were met and we felt like we had been cruising for years. Both of our kids we reluctant to go to their age appropiate programs and first. After day 1 of the cruise, both kids were scanning their daily programs to figure out when and where they would be going throughout the day. Their activities ranged from dinner and a movie night to a visit to the bridge. The food was amazing throughout the cruise no matter where we ate. The planned shows and activities kept us busy when we wanted to do something besides sleep in the sun at the pool deck.

Pros: The staff is amazing, the kids programs are top notch

Cons: not a single disappointment

Recommends Golden Princess? Yes!

Ship Quality
The entire ship was kept incredibly clean throughout the entire cruise. It was very easy to get around the ship right from day one.
Food and Dining
We never had a meal that was less than excellent. We chose "anytime dining" because of our kids. It was flexible enough to allow us to eat when we all were hungry.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were in a mini-suite and had plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of storage space made for trip free maneuvering around our stateroom. The bathroom had a full size tub/shower.
Service and Staff
Not once were we disappointed by any actions from the staff. Starting with our room steward all the way to the cocktail servers, everyone was gracious with their time and willingness.
Entertainment
We saw comedy shows, production shows, trivia shows, cooking demonstrations, pool side games, played in the casino, played bingo, etc. etc. etc. It seems like an endless list of activities for all.
Children's Programs
We could not believe how great the kids programs were. All activities were age appropriate, well thought out and fun/exciting for the kids. The staff truely made us feel comfortable with leaving the kids the first time and the kids wanted to go back willingly everyday.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
we took the city tour with the kids. We were able to see more of the city than we could have by ourselves including stops at a tile factory and tequila house. We took the option of getting off downtown and finding a taxi back on our own. Puerto Vallarta was very safe and great for shopping
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Our favorite port. Unfortunetly there is not enough time here (must be back on the ships tenders by 12:30pm. We spent the first couple hours in the morning shopping then made our way to the beach to spend the rest of our short day. The beach is easily accessible (12 dollar water taxi ride for family of 4) and a blast. We drank margarita's and played in the bathtub warm water with the kids for what seemed like days but only turned out to be a couple of hours. After a short water taxi ride back to the tenders we were back aboard the ship by lunch.
Don't Miss: The beach
Mazatlan, Mexico
We took the countyside tour. This tour gave us the chance to let our kids see how others live in the world. It was an eye opening experience for all. The people that live in small towns outside the tourist capitals of Mexico are some of the nicest/hardest working people you will ever met. We did not get to spend much time in Mazatlan.
