A Nightmare From Beginning To End

Sail Date: April 01, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Holding a Platinum Elite Membership having cruised over 29 times with Princess we boarded the ship in San Francisco, a port I do not recommend sailing from, no set up for check in, late disembarkation, loaders dropping pieces of luggage into ocean, sailed five hours late and never got to see the San Francisco Bay Bridge, the whole purpose for sailing out of that port. The minute we boarded we headed to the Pursers Desk to be greeted by a negative, disrespectfull young lady Kusan Furrer, (purser's desk highest official) who stated we must have gotten a discount or we had an incompetent travel agent. To the contrary we later found it Princess simply gave our room to someone else by error, although we had booked l year prior to sailing with that ship. Our dining room experience was phenomenal, excellent waiters, and staff as we ate all meals in the dining rooms.....they strived to please in all they did! The room steward was the best we had in all our cruises, hard working, efficient and polite. The boutique staff was excellent as well. But it boils down to the fact that for all questions for all purposes you have to deal with the pursers desk who need to be trained to treat people with respect and that they are not indispensable. As far as my husband and I were concerned there was one young lady at that desk from Italy, the only employee worth speaking with. I would not recommend sailing out of San Francisco to anyone and until Princess realizes there were several unhappy passengers, that ship is a total non representation of what Princess stands for.

Pros: The waiters and entire dining room staff and food

Cons: The unprofessional pursers desk, rude, obnoxious, curt, snobs

Recommends Golden Princess? No.

Service and Staff
Fire the entire purser's staff, everyone else went beyond the call of duty.
Ship Quality
The restrooms were a disgrace and not up to Princess high quality standards of excellence
Food and Dining
Excellent food, service, and extreme professionals at all times
Cabin / Stateroom
Great clean rooms, except surrounded by smokers on all ends.
