Treatd Like Royalty on a Princess Cruise

Sail Date: April 29, 2006

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We paid approximately $900 per person. We were told by quite a few other passengers that they paid $350 - $450...
We wouldn't have minded, but some of them had balcony rooms when we were told upgrades were unavailable???

Pros: Unlimited amounts of wonderful food and fun!

Cons: Price was a little high, when we found out that others paid half!

Service and Staff
Our room steward couldn't be beat! He decorated the bed and door way in honor of our first anniversary!
Ship Quality
Even though the Golden Princess is built for 2600 passengers and 1,150 crew, we were alone quite often in the public areas. We never waited on a line either!!!
Food and Dining
The free style dining is a must! We met new people each night and made some lasting friendships!!!
Cabin / Stateroom
Kept hitting my shoulder on the bunk beds that were folded up against the wall over our bed. We had an ocean view, but were promised an upgrade to a balcony!
Wish the karaoke was held a bit earlier each night, ...hard to stay up and sing at >10 PM!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Arrived on a Sunday and couldn't hit the shops after scuba diving as they closed ~ 2 PM.
Don't Miss: Sky ride.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Unfortunately, we arrinved on a carnival day and all the shops were again closed!!! But we went sailing on an America's cup yacht called the Stars and Stripes. We came in second in the race! It's a lot of work if you get assigned the job of a "grinder" on the primary sail.
Don't Miss: The America's Cup Yacht racing!
St. John's, Antigua
Unfortunately, we arrived on a holiday ~ Labor Day and all the shops were closed. But the island is very mountainous and green and the water is very blue!
Don't Miss: Top of the sunset mountain!
