Review summary

Been on many Royal cruises. This one was great for our group to spend time together. Ship is old and you see and feel it. Prices are outrageous and food and service aren't what they used to be. Can cruise on MSC for half the prices and get better service and ports and food is much better. Royal appears to no longer be focused on the customer, only revenue and profit. Value for the money spent is poor.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food quality has declined. Average at best. Service for lunch and breakfast was hit or miss. Not all servers were friendly or helpful.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Activities on ship were fine.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were good.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Hit or miss. Some friendly and helpful some not. Morale isnt great, some complained about treatment from superiors. Common theme and first time experiencing this.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean. Ship however is old and shows it. Plumbing in bathrooms is an issue, several in our group had flooding in shower and bathroom.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our cabin was 9630 not 6577. Was upgraded trough the bid process. Cabin was fine, only issue weas the flooding in shower that had to be addressed twice.

Ship tip

Honestly, they charge for everything and their products, services, excursions, packages etc. are extremely expensive. Borders on price gouging. It has gotten way out of control. Paid more while on the ship then we paid to book the cruise.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Left out of Ft Laud where we live.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

1 out of 5
This stop is primarily designed as a profit center for Royal. They charge for almost everything on the island and the prices are extremely high. Would rather go to an independent port and not one that's strictly a profit center for them.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Good port. Excursions overpriced. Gouging

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Good port. Excursions overpriced. Gouging.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy.

If you feel that the cruise was a poor value, you might try something else, but prices are going up everywhere.

This is not price gouging. You have zero obligation to purchase anything as all food and regular beverages are included. All cruiselines charge for the same items as do hotels on land.

Sadly, price gouging is a sign of the times and it isn't just cruise lines. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and airfare are all becoming extremely expensive.
