Going into the grand suite from a standard room.was quite a shock..very enjoyable but still a shock for a first timer. Everything was really exciting and pleasant during the entire cruise.
My one complaint is that, during performances at the theater and ice shows and the pool , the special seating areas were not policed for reserved gold card members and at times it was difficult to find seats. I realize that there are many classes of guests on board but most of the people I think I would have recognized as other gold card holders.
Embarkation

This was the second portion of our back to back. The transition from standard storeroom to grand suite was very easy and almost a seamless transition. We were escorted off the ship with our old, new and transition passes by Ying ,our concierge. Off the ship and back on within an hour.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

We mostly ate in the main dining room for breakfast and dinner. Our head waiter , Divina Gracias was very attentive to ALL our needs, especially my girlfriend who is gluten free allergy, the entire wait staff, Polar Included showed us a very good amount of attention during the entire eight days. The gluten free diet was certainly a main concern for us and following the first night, we had no more thoughts of a mix up. Our table staff are us feel like we were part of the family. Hats off to Pilar and divine gracia.!!
Onboard Activities

The veterans get together was rather special for me.
The belly flop contest is always a big hit.
World's sexiest man contest is also good.
Quest is our most favorite
Entertainment

We really enjoy the programs in the theater and ice rink.
Quest is always a great time.
The late night comedy was very entertaining and laughable.
Service and Staff

Waiter divina gracia was super efficient and pleasant .
Her immediate supervisor was also very good at making us feel special. That's one of the reasons that we eat in the main dining room for the special service in stead of the windjammer.
The assistant waiter was very good at clearing dishes, keeping the water full and being sure our requests from the bar met with speed and efficiency. Those three people make a very good team together. Th he bartenders in the concierge lounge were very attentive to ALL their guests and very polite. Good job by them.
Ship Quality

The entire ship was in very good shape.
Cabin / Stateroom

Very nicely surprise coming from the regular staeroom to the grand suite. Our cabin attendant ,Simplicio, was very conscientious about his job in making us comfortable. His knowledge regarding the ship was very good,as we needed explanations of the grand suite perks. He did a great job.
Ship tip
If you are going to sail on the freedom, my one piece of advice is....
SHUT OFF YOUR DEVICE AND LEAVE IT IN YOUR STATEROOM!!!!
turn it off and enjoy your vacation.
Did not do excursion. However, two days prior and two days following , we stayed at a local hotel and enjoyed the city of fort lauderdale . The beaches, food, and bars are great places to meet people and soak up sun and atmosphere .
No excursion. Port was all right. We walked around town and ended up purchasing jewelry from one of the shops that Neil, the port shoppers guide, had recommended.
No excursion. We walked about the town and ended up purchasing jewelry from one of the shop recommended stores which Neil spoke about and we received special offers
Neil also escorted us personally and introduced us to one of the owners to help with a problem we had with a ring that was purchased two cruises prior. The issue was solved but we feel it would not have been had it not been for NEIL.
No excursion as we did not have much time In port. We have been here before and there were no excursions of interest to us. The only excursion We were interested in was the bioluminescent BAY tour and we didn't stay in port overnight.
We've already drank at the bacardi tour in more than one occasion.
Being in the grand suite made this stop a very enjoyable stop. The private beach setting, floats, beach lunch and the other amenties were super. The help at the beach was just the right amount of attention. The jet ski excursion was enjoyable however , we should have rented TWO jet skis as we are both experienced riders. We rented only one not knowing what to expect from.this excursion. The guides were very good at allowing us some of the freedoms of speed and turns on the water. We did not like the small boats coming out to us to sell their local wares. It made a few of us uncomfortable.
Being in the grand suite made DISEMBARKATION a very good experience. Ying, who was our concierge escort , made this process easy. So easy in fact that we had to wait three hours for our room to be ready at one of the beach hotels. Great job by ying during our entire cruise.
Can you tell me some of the perks? I know about special seating, on/off ship, concierge lounge. Anything else? I thought there were some specialty restaurants available for no charge, maybe on sea days? We will be in Grand suite April 2019 and are excited! Thanks for any help you can give me
The phrase "class of guest", may be unappealing, but most Cruise Lines, Airlines, Trains, Hotels, Sporting Events, etc., have some special accommodations or privileges for people that want to pay more or for those that are getting some reward for loyal, or repeat business. So you may have difficulty getting away from different treatment for different expenditures on most Cruise Lines.
Yikes. Different "classes of guests" on this ship? Thought that went out with the Titanic. Different "levels of points", ok but blocked off seating and pool chairs? Makes me choose another cruise line.🤔
