Complete disaster of a vacation. No time to relax or decompress. No time to enjoy one another due to illness that could have been avoided if one person had taken a few minutes to make sure the bags he was unloading from the bus were at the correct port, instead he was too worried about how many (blank) tips he was going to receive from the passengers. We are now suffering from my husband missing work, being extremely ill, and having to go back to his doctor for treatment. We will also have to our eye doctor for an appointment to replace his Rx reading glasses that are lost. I will never recommend RC to anyone and plan to write as many reviews, scathing, about my experience as possible. I hope that RC will reach out to me and resolve this matter, I am at the point that I want to forget I booked this cruise.
Embarkation

a nightmare. my husband's carryon was placed on the wrong dock - wrong ship - he was out clothes and medicine the entire trip. Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas crew did NOTHING to try and get his bag back to us the entire week. as a result my husband is now suffering from diverticulitis and missing work. I will never cruise with RC again. And I've been cruising since 1999, this was most likely my last cruise, ever.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
It was most likely the stress we were under with out my husband's meds for his stomach - we found the food mediocre and average.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
the only onboard activity we enjoyed was the Solarium pool
Entertainment
my husband did not feel well enough to go to any shows
Children's Programs
we have no comment on this - we have no children
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
our room steward was average - there is no motivation to keep a stateroom pristine due to tips being included in your everyday expenses. there was only ONE lady at the Guest Relations desk who tried to help us with our lost luggage, I wish I could remember her name. Floridan (from France) was most condescending to us.

Cabin / Stateroom

We loved the roominess of our cabin but our room steward was average. He left a plate with pizza on it on the table for 2 days. He did change our towels with out me requesting though, I did appreciate that.
They placed my husband's carry on luggage on the wrong ship! No accountability - no way of scanning bags - no way to communicate between employees other than their personal phones. It is a POOR way to move people's personal belongings. I will never go through Port Everglades EVER again. And we never received any advice or suggestions on how to get my husband's luggage back. No form to fill out was mentioned - only a #800 to call.
people were very friendly and extremely pushy to get you to buy something, but you expect that in these ports. the ONLY reason we left the ship to go ashore was to try and find my husband another pair of shorts to wear besides the ones he had been wearing for the past FIVE days
After asking the original Port Everglades employee, a girl, about our bag again, she was shocked that RC had not tried to get the bag back to us. My question now is, WHO is responsible for getting lost luggage back?! Everyone seemed to be pointing fingers at the next person and NOONE had an answer, we left the Port with an #800 and our responsibility to call on Monday, after Silhouette of the Seas docked, to call and find out where our luggage was. We STILL have not received any answer!
Sorry, the other responses popped up after I sent my post. Everyone is correct, your personal belongings are your responsibility. Read your cruise contract next time, everything is spelled out in it. Still not sure who the bus driver worked for. When you get off any transport the driver hands you all your luggage so I don't get how they were lost.
Okay, I'm lost. How does someone losing your bags have anything to do with an illness? Was his medication in one of the lost bags? I hand carry ours in a small carry on with our passports and paperwork. Was the bus a Royal Caribbean bus?
You always keep meds with you at all times. RC isn't responsible for your luggage until you give it to them at the ship. I fail to see how RC is responsible and I think most people are seeing it that way as well
Everyone needs to understand that porters do NOT work for the cruise line. They work for the port and even have a union. On the website and I believe in the contract, it says that if you leave your items with a porter the cruise line is NOT responsible. Personally, I pack everything, including my formals, in a carry-on...and carry it on. I’m sorry this happened to you, but this is not RCL fault.
I once cruised with a broken leg and was not able to carry my items so I had them sent with the porter so don't always assume that people need to do research before they cruise
Pdarksage-My issue is that the luggage was stolen they don't have legs and crawl away they were stolen obviously if they cruised since 1999 they are aware they can carry there items but at some point the luggage should have showed up I'd be angry if my luggage was stolen even if it's clothes an investigation should happen to see what happened if it were your luggage I'm sure you would be made as well
Amstar944 - Bashing? Being nasty? What do you expect fellow cruisers to do when they read this review? They even said they've been cruising since 1999, so they obviously were aware that you keep these items with you at all times. I have a feeling you don't take medications for heart, blood pressure, etc. If you did, you'd understand why people are replying the way they are.
It's easy to say what the person should have done and bash them but either way there luggage should not have been lost so stop being nasty to them have some sympathy people there luggage was lost it's Royal Caribbeans mistake not this person
Wow I’ve read this a couple of times. Being a frequent Royal travelers, being at four Florida ports, this is bewildering. I get off a transport and take my luggage to the porter at the ships dock who looks at the tag and it’s placed in a bin. I myself watch this every time. Carry on luggage you say? Why didn’t you carry it instead of catty it. Everyone tells you to always take needed items with you, meds, equipment, change of clothes. Royal tells you, airlines tell you it’s just a known fact. Sounds like you don’t want to take responsibility. Don’t understand how it’s Royals problem, if transport delivers you to the wrong port, If that’s the case. How did you get to the right dock without your luggage.
Not sure how the bags could have been misplaced to "wrong port" if they were correctly tagged with RC's luggage tags. I've never embarked on a cruise where I haven't personally given bags to a porter at my specific cruise port. Sorry this happened to you but I don't feel this is the fault of RC.
Wow that’s the worst when yer bag gets misplaced, sounds like a very unpleasant trip, RC should compensate you for your troubles, this is a very serious issued that needs to be addressed by there customer sadisfaction dept.
mims56 - yes we realize his meds should have been with him the whole time but his luggage should have been placed at the correct port too. I agree I have learned a HUGE lesson but let's not add salt to the wound, eh?
So you're saying you packed medication and glasses ? Lesson learned while doing any travel. Keep necessities such as meds or medical equipment with you.
