A fabulous cruise!

Sail Date: July 29, 2007

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

We just returned from a wonderful week on the Freedom of the Seas and this ship is spectacular. I was afraid a ship lauded as "The largest in the world" would be too big and impersonal, but this was not the case at all. The Freedom IS huge, but the staff treated us like old friends. The kids had a great time Ice Skating for the first time (we are from Florida) and boogie boarding on the flowmaster. Wwe all really enjoyed the parades and parties on the promenade. Becky our cruise director was awesome and everyone loved her. One of the best cruises we have ever been on!

Pros: Ship features, dining at Portofino, excellent service and the best cruise director afloat

Cons: We had to come home

Recommends Freedom of the Seas? Yes!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Great shopping here on the Dutch side of the island. Shop keepers and everyone we met were warm and friendly. Our favorite port this trip.
Don't Miss: Shopping, Shopping, Shopping
San Juan, Puerto Rico
We had a great time in San Juan. As experienced cruisers we skipped the tours offered by the ship and instead booked a driver directly. For four hours we saw the sights of Old and New San Juan, the forts and the shopping areas. Our escort Mario took us to a wonderful local spot for dinner and we had fresh grilled Red Snapper!
Don't Miss: The forts are awesome and the food is exceptional at the local spots in "Pinones" area. Shopping is better at other ports so wait for those.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
The island is still beautiful, but the people are generally cold and unfriendly. I was also shocked to find that prices for everything had escalated to the point that many things were actually more expensive then back home. What happened? St Thomas used to be a shoppers paradise, but no more.
Don't Miss: Go to the beach, the shopping is now aweful.
