Review SummaryWe sailed from august 31 to september 7th 2008..........we were not able to dock in Haiti, due to a storm....therefore we ended up spending another day at sea......I figured the "Cruise" would offer some sort of courtesy either in a rebate form, drinks or even any kind of gift tokens..instead they spent their energy repeatedly stating how noble they were to bypass Haiti.
We went on this crusie to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary...upon arrival our travel agent had a bottle of wine delivered to our room, which was a nice and unexpected gesture. The "Cruise" also gave us a gift on the anniversary day....a plain white envelope with a note wishing us a happy anniversary and a 20% rebate coupon on the purchase of jewellery............is this classy or what, NOT!.......crass comes to mind!
My biggest beef, is the endless sales pitches for photos, DVD, watches and jewellery, drink packages, side walk sales etc....yes, we all need more diamonds........We attended an information session on what to visit on the islands, the spokes person, presented us with a bunch of flyers/maps solely on what to buy in terms jewellery/watches, as if there was nothing else on the ports of visit....and for her to state that the engagement rings purchased (with love), decades ago, requires and UPGRADE....is typical peddler mentality. And to add insult to injury, they run her presentation on the closed circuit TV all night long too!
Oh yes! and those over priced drinks.....if I pay $7.00 a beer, I expect it (beer) to be served by a stripper.
Luckily, these discreapncies do NOT out weight the good times!
