great beginner trip

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

ship was perfect. even though it is an older boat\, you would never know it! staff was outstanding.

Pros: service was outstanding

Cons: not enough snacks available during the day\, having to purchase a drink package just to get water or soda

Recommends Explorer of the Seas? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
food in main dining room was good\, not outstanding. the service made up for it. the food at the buffet was exactly that... buffet food. portofino was just not worth it at all. main dining room food was actually better with no extra charge.
Cabin / Stateroom
started out in a regular balcony room. was very nice. we actually won an upgrade to a grand suite the first full day on the cruise. major difference! wish i could afford to go that route all the time.
Service and Staff
main dining room staff were outstanding along with our room attendant. same goes for cruise director.
if you play bingo\, you can purchase \"electronic machines\" to run extra cards for you. they do not have enough for all players\, giving some a much added advantage to win. totally unfair.
