Explorer of the Seas... what a Discovery

Sail Date: April 01, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Balcony

This ship is truly lovely. Public areas sport granite or marble details and brass and glass decoration. Each stairwell had beautiful coordinated picture and sculpture combinations. The main elevators were glass and overlooked the stories high brass sculptures and the Main Street area of shops and emporiums. Every area was gleaming clean and bright.

Pros: The ship was beautifully appointed and spacious.

Cons: We had such a wonderful time that I cannot even think of one con.

Recommends Explorer of the Seas? No.

Food and Dining
Buffet and dining room food were good quality. The offerings in Portofino and Johnny Rockets were excellent and well worth the small additional cost.
Ship Quality
Big enough that except at the very most popular events (like arriving in port or formal dinner night) there was no feeling of being crowded. Even at those busiest times the staff was so helpful that wait times were minimal, they kept people moving in an orgainzed and pleasant manner.
Cabin / Stateroom
The stateroom on this ship was a bit larger than most I've been in before. The balcony area seemed a little small, but had a large sliding door that let lots of sunshine into the cabin and gave us a fabulous view.
Service and Staff
The staff on this ship was very attentive to us without seeming intrusive. Dining room staff were gracious and available nearly instantly. Bar staff was readily available but not pushy. Spa staff was polite and helpful and available frequently in common areas like outside the Windjammer or on the Main Street.
There seemed to be activity all day long and into the night. We were kept well informed ahead of time about the schedules of activity by a daily newsletter delivered to our cabin each evening.
