I have sailed on 7 different cruise ships including the Voyager of the Seas, sister ship to the Explorer. Overall, our cruise was superb. From the elegance of our suite to the friendly dining room service, this ship gave us an overall good vacation experience. For people going on the cruise in the future, let me suggest boarding the ship at 11:30 (that's when the boarding starts) and then you miss the embarkation lines and get to be among the first people aboard the vessel. We sailed the New Year's 2001-2002 Eastern Caribbean itinerary and the ports were standard, so we spent much of the port time on this city at sea. The food was above average; it had a fair taste to it and was quite appetizing, typical RCI. The ship was amazing, as I stated before. She has many first time features that were introduced on this class of ships including an ice-skating rink, rock climbing wall, a four-story street mall type area, a roller blading area, and the largest theaters and dining rooms at sea. The entertainment was better than that of the Voyager. With two Broadway shows, hilarious comedians and singers, plus my favorite Farewell Variety Show on the last night created a first class entertainment environment. Bingo was among the best things to do on the days at sea with the jackpot totaling up to over $10,000 at the end of the cruise. There is always on huge party in the Viking Crown Lounge on all RCI cruises, but on this one it was too big. On the night of New Year's Eve, drunks were running around the ship and children were making noises until 3:00 a.m.Overall, I was disappointed when this cruise came to an end, but it was not my best cruise. Although I feel that this ship is superior in most aspects to Voyager, the Celebrity Millennium-Class ships still remain my favorite.
