THE EXPLORER OF THE SEAS IS TRULY A MAGNIFICENT SHIP, NOT ONLY IN THE PHYSICAL STRUCTURE BUT THE FINE TUNED DAY TO DAY OPERATION. FROM THE QUICK EMBARKATION AND FRIENDLY RCL STAFF WHO GREETED US, TO THE FRIENDLY EFFICIENT CABIN STEWARD, TO THE EXCELLENT DINING ROOM STAFF(EVEN THE HEAD WAITER CAME TO OUR TABLE EVERY NIGHT AND ADDED TO THE DINING EXPERIENCE BY DESHELLING SHRIMP AND LOBSTER TAILS TO MAKING FLAMING DESSERTS AT TABLESIDE,A SERVICE VERY FEW CRUISE SHIPS STILL DO),TO THE GREAT ENTERTAINMENT AND CRUISE DIRECTOR'S STAFF, BAR AND POOL STAFF,PURSERS DESK AND THE CAPTAIN WAS THE MOST INTERACTIVE OF ANY I HAVE SAILED WITH. (HE WAS THE CAPTAIN OF THE VOYAGER WHEN I SAILED ON HER LAST YEAR). I JUST FELT EVRYONE ON THE SHIP TRULY WANTED TO MAKE OUR CRUISE "LIKE NO OTHER VACATION ON EARTH"THE FOOD WAS BETTER THAN THE OTHER SHIPS I HAVE CRUISED ON. THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS THE MENU WAS GOOD BUT I WOULD HAVE LIKED A LITTLE BETTER VARIETY BUT THEN BY THE THIRD NIGHT TO THE END OF THE CRUISE THE SELECTION AND QUALITY OF THE THE FOOD WAS FIRST RATE. WHILE OTHER CRUISE LINES SEEM TO BE GOING DOWNHILL IN THE FOOD DEPARMENT IT IS REFRESHING TO SEE RCL STRIVING AND SUCCEDING IN MAKING INOVATIONS IN THE VARIETY AND QUALITY OF ITS FOOD ALONG WITH SEVERAL DINNING OPTIONS.THE EXECUTIVE CHEF WAS THE ONLY FEMALE HOLDING THAT POSITION AND SHE WAS VISABLE THROUGHOUT THE SHIP ALL DURING THE CRUISE. SHE DOES AN OUTSTANDING JOB. THE ONBOARD ENTERTAINMENT WAS VERY GOOD ESPECIALLY THE MAIN THEATER REVUES. THE LOUNGE ENTERTAINMENT WAS ALSO VERY GOOD. THE CASINO WAS LARGE AND VERY ATTRACTIVE WITH BELLS AND YELLS HEARD AS SLOTS WERE HITTING AND CRAPS WERE ROLLING.THE POOL AREA WAS WELL DESIGNED AND THERE WERE CHAIRS FOR ALL(EVEN WITH THE CAPACITY CROWD OF 3400 PASSENGERS..UNLIKE THE THE GRAND PRINCESS WHICH HAD NOWHERE ENOUGH CHAIRS)THERE IS A VERY POSH ADULT POOL THAT HAS A ROMAN LOOK WITH PILLARS AND STATUES AROUND IT. ON THE OTHER SIDE IS THE FITNESS CENTER WHICH IS VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND HAS BOTH HOT AND STEAM ROOMS AND A BEAUTIFUL WHIRLPOOL WITH ROMAN COLUMNS, UP A SPIRAL STAIRCASE IS THE SPA AREA. OUR CABIN WAS BEAUTIFUL AND WAS DECORATED WITH A VERY PLEASING TEAL AND SALMON COLOR. THE BALCONY WAS GREAT(WELL WORTH THE EXTRA $$)THERE WAS TWO CHAIRS AND A TABLE AND THE GLASS DOORS WERE FLOOR TO CEILING AND THE WIDTH OF THE CABIN. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL VIEW WATCHING THIS MASSIVE SHIP DOCK FROM OUR BALCONY. THE CABIN HAD A SOFA, AND TABLE WITH SEVERAL ATTRACTIVE PICTURES ON THE WALLS. THE BEDS COULD BE MADE INTO TWINS OR PUT TOGETHER AS A QUEEN. THE BUILD IN UNITS WERE BOTH ATTRACTIVE AND FUNCTIONAL. IT WAS EQUIPPED WITH A REFRIGERATOR,AND TV. THE BATHROOM WAS A LITTLE SMALL BUT VERY WELL DESIGNED ESPECIALLY THE CIRCULAR SHOWER WITH A SHOWER HEAD THAT MOVED UP AND DOWN ON A ROD AND WAS REMOVABLE AND ALSO HAD A MASSAGING HEAD.A SAFE WAS ALSO IN EACH CABIN.PROBABLY THE MOST INNOVATIVE PART OF THE SHIP IS THE PROMENADE WHICH RUNS NEAR THE LENGTH OF THE SHIP. YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ON A STREET IN EUROPE WITH AN OUTDOOR CAFE AND MANY SHOPS INCLUDING TOMMY HILFIGER. THE PROMENADE IS THE FOCAL POINT OF THE SHIP WHER MANY EVENTS TAKE PLACE. FROM THE BON VOYAGE PARADE TO LATIN NIGHT TO THE FAREWELL PARADE THE LOOK OF THE PROMENADE CHANGES NIGHTLY. A HUGE BALL LIKE STRUCTURE ENLARGES AND CONTRACTS WITH COLORED LIGHTS. LASERS, CONFETTI, STREAMERS AND SMOKE ADD TO THE EXCITEMENT OF EVENTS IN THIS AREA.THE CEILING CHANGES COLOR EVERY SEVERAL MINUTES.ALSO THERE IS AN ENGLISH PUB WITH MUSIC AND DAILY ENTERTAINMENT.SORRY FOR THE LONG REVIEW BUT AFTER TWELVE CRUISES I WAS VERY MUCH IMPRESSED WITH THE EXPLORER OF THE SEAS.I DID'NT THINK RCL COULD TOP THE VOYAGER WHICH I WAS ON IN FEB OF 2000 BUT THEY DID. THIS SHIP HAS IT ALL AND THEY DO IT ALL GREAT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT FAMILY VACATION, THIS IS IT. PS.. KIDS PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN.
