Disappointing

Sail Date: November 01, 2009

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

First Cruise on R.C. Usually go Carnival. I was very disappointed from the start. Our balcony stateroom needed remodeled. The sofa was stained and dirty looking. The shower flooded the bathroom floor everytime. Cape Liberty was fairly easy to get through, although the announcement system has a lot be desired. Getting off the ship "Express" was not very well organized. People got stuck on Deck 2. Had to drag suitcases down the stairs.

Pros: Staff

Cons: Rude Old People. Thought I was on the Ship of the Floating Dead.

Recommends Explorer of the Seas? No.

Ship Quality
Ship's public areas were clean, but needs remodeled. Ship is carved up and signage is not good. Clocks are few and far between.
Food and Dining
Nothing ever seemed to be hot. Milk never seemed to be cold. Get the omelets if you want something hot and fresh. Watermelon was excellent.
Cabin / Stateroom
Sofa was stained and dirty. The balcony door sweaked every time the ship rocked, which was all the time, even on smooth seas. Shower flooded everytime. The rooms are small and crowded. We had a balcony stateroom and only 2 of us. But the room was crowded. Frig would not keep anything cold.
Entertainment
The shows went from great, "Fast Forward" and Skating show, to needing alot of work "Invitation to Dance".
Service and Staff
David our stateroom attendant was great, as was Carlos who was a waiter in the Windjammer. We always looked for his area. Staff was very accomodating and friendly.. Staff is not the problem, Most of the issues were procedural.
