Review summary
I'm not a first-time cruiser and I've been on Holland America before. Eurodam supposedly refurbished in 2015. During trip booking, we chose open seating as we like to make the most of our day and eat late. We found out during embarkation that our open seating was limited to 5-6pm...an Inspiration Group fully reserved the late second seating. Not happy about eating dinner so early. We had to cancel a late afternoon spa massage previously booked and pre-paid (Holland did reimburse us). Guest Relations said nothing could be done and said we could always go to the buffet or order room service for dinner.
Main Dining Room chairs are a little uncomfortable. Gala Nights were more casual dress than formal. Food quality was very good. Lido Market buffet food choices were limited and repetitive; alway had Mexican food and salad; plenty of fried food; dining hours are too short. Outdoor deck chairs were weathered, faded and dirty; cushions were old and dirty. Table chair arms in Lido aft deck dirty and sticky. Lounge chairs are plentiful but limited in quantity in indoor pool area. Stateroom - ok though tight; Bed comfortable though soft; plenty of closet space; bathroom had tub for showering - rubber bath mat would not stay in place (stateroom attendant couldn't help us) so we used a towel to prevent slipping. Entertainment is geared for a senior crowd.
Outside theater entertainers appeared in two shows. Holland America singers & dancers need more "polish". Bajari Beach Escape was excellent, Half Moon Cay relaxing with plenty of beach chairs; lunch was good and plentiful.
