A four-day cruise can be exhausting because they must ramp up the energy from minute one! This cruise was no different and we loved every minute of it!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The terminal at Miami runs very efficiently. From the time we surrendered our luggage until we were in the Wind Jammer having lunch couldn't have even been 30 minutes. The employees were friendly and helpful.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food in the My Fair Lady Dining room was delicious and well-presented. The vegetables were cooked perfectly as was the meat and fish that we ordered. The food in the Windjammer was plentiful and varied. I was able to try a few new dishes from other cuisines which I appreciated the opportunity to do. We ate a few snacks from the Park Cafe in the Solarium and also found tasty options.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was a nice mix of activities for those who chose to stay onboard instead of going on excursions. The activities staff did a great job of engaging passengers of all ages from morning to late night. The Solarium pool was mostly empty so we enjoyed swimming there. Didn't make time to do the rock-climbing or bungee jumping area. Didn't use the fitness area but we walked through and everything was clean. The dance classes in the Centrum were fun, as were the Scavenger Hunt and puzzle games that ran out of the Schooner Bar. The evening Game shows hosted in the Centrum were so fun to watch as was the Love and Marriage Show at the Orpheum Theatre, and the Quest Game in the lounge.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was, as always, fabulous. The entertainers and bands, as well as the singers and dancers, rivaled those from other Royal Caribbean ships and professional shows we have seen in the Washington, D.C. area. Cruise Director Dennis and Activities Director Assada kept the energy high from minute one until the very end.
Children's Programs
Our children are all grown up!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
I must rave about the food and service in the My Fair Lady Dining Room, table 66. Our waiter Hary (?) and assistant waiter Nina were fabulous in their time and attention to our table.
Our cabin steward was not the most attentive; we did not receive a Cruise Compass in our cabin two of the four days, nor did we receive information on our time to report to immigration in Key West, nor for the Disembarkation times on our last morning. Yes, we could and did find those at Guest Services, but I should not have had to do so.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Once I get my bearings, I like the layout of this class of ships (Majesty and Grandeur are very similar). Most areas seemed to be well maintained but the Solarium area was not kept very clean. The same large clump of dark hair was left next to the pool the whole cruise and scraps of food were left unswept.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Although it takes a bit of maneuvering, two people can get along just fine in this size cabin. We have learned to not take too much and that helps. We use packing cubes and we just pull those out of our suitcase and put them in the little cubbies and drawers.
The cabin was clean and smelled fresh.
Unfortunately, the beds in our cabin (4538) were very bowed and very uncomfortable to sleep on.
Ship tip
I like the fact that lifeguards are now stationed at every pool. I did not travel with young children but I like the life vests that are provided for little ones.
We took the excursion to Pearl Island and really enjoyed it! Plenty of lounge chairs in the shade or the sun and room to relax. The provided lunch was tasty (rice, tilapia, BBQ chicken, cole slaw or green salad). the water was beautiful with a few floating platforms to climb on or from which to jump. The included photo was the best quality of any photo taken at any of the ports.
I always love to visit Cococay even though I must admit to being a bit afraid of the larger fish and stingrays that are seen in the shallow water. Plenty of lounge chairs in either a sunny or shady spot. Umbrellas can be rented. The included lunch was tasty.
We self-carry since we each only travel with a carry-on sized suitcase. Once again, things at the Miami terminal moved quickly and efficiently. Plenty of cabs to be found outside the terminal and we were at the airport in just about 30 minutes from disembarking.
Make sure you take a highlighter so you can highlight the things you want to do in the Cruise Compass every day so you don't miss the activities that most appeal to you.
My husband and I will be going on our first cruise in September for his 50th birthday. I really appreciate all the positive comments on the Enchantment. I've been reading the reviews for months now and let's just say some have had me worried about our first experience on a cruise. I hope our trip will be just as exciting as yours was.
Thank you. If the ship is clean and the MDR is decent it's ok with me. I also researched on the CDC website for cruise inspection and the last inspection was done on the Enchantment on June 2, 2017 with a score of 99%. I'm happy with that
We loved the food in the MDR. Plenty of healthy and decadent options! That being said, we are not terribly critical and figure if someone else is cooking and cleaning up, there is little to complain about!
Thanks for the review. How was the MDR. We are going in September for my parents 60th wedding Anniversary have 10 cabins booked hope everything turns out great
