Review summary
Me and my buddies booked this cruise because we wanted to experience the Bahamas and mainly the private Cococay Island.
We had visited Key West prior roughly 6 months ago so we didn't care too much for that stop.
There were some adverse weather concerns around the Cococay Island so the captain decided it would be safe to miss it, which is understandable. The part that really frustrated me and my friends was that we ended up spending the ENTIRE day on the cruise because of it! We had flown out all the way from California so that we could visit this Island mainly, as it was our most interested spot, only to visit the Bahamas and key west (Key West almost doesn't count as its part of the US)
We spoke with a family that was at the Bahamas and they were riding with CARNIVAL. They said they had the same problem because of the weather, but their captain was nice and smart enough to allow them to stay an extra day at the Bahamas because they couldn't make it to Cococay Island. This is what we expected from our captain but it didn't happen.
Look, things happen, and I understand that we cannot control the intensity of the weather, but the least Royal Caribbean could have offered us was a partial refund for the missed stop that we were PAYING for, or at least credit for another cruise to ensure we were satisfied with their cruise line, but they didn't. The lady over the phone said the most they're offering at the moment was "Their apologies".
Next time we go on a cruise, which will be soon, we are going to be looking into Carnival, because it seems Royal Caribbean doesn't care for the satisfaction of their customers. We were really expecting a partial refund at the least. We got ripped off! It isn't too late to offer us a refund as a company's gesture way of saying sorry, pls come back to ride with us.

Do not expect the company to give you any money back if there are any missed stops or shortcomings as the most they will offer you is their apology.

As far as the size of the cabin, that is explained that, taking the bathroom out of the equation, the cabins are approximately 110 square feet. That breaks down to about 27 sq ft per person.3' X 9', on average. I could never understand how four people would want to share a cabin that is smaller than most hotel rooms. Next time you would do well to do more due diligence and research things more. You do sound like the Carnival type of people (party, party, party). We have been on 33 cruises with at least ten different cruise lines and have found Royal Caribbean, Holland America and NCL to be the best bang for the buck. Carnival is our least favorite because of the party all night atmosphere. I sure hope your next cruise is more of what you are looking for. Best wishes.

I'm sorry that your cruise was ruined (to the point of a 1 star rating) due to missing Coco Cay and how it was handled by the master. I can understand how disappointing that could be.
Like BonMike pointed out, cruise lines have all passengers agree to their "Cruise Ticket Contract" as part of sailing. For Royal Caribbean, it's part of the online check-in, and it's provided to you approximately 49 days in advance when you receive your "e-docs". For reference, it's also available online here: https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/CTC_Not_For_BR.pdf .
In that contract, in section 6.a., it does say that "Carrier may for any reason at any time and without prior notice, ... deviate from any scheduled sailing, port of call, ... Carrier shall not be liable for any claim whatsoever by Passenger, including but not limited to loss, compensation or refund..."

It is disappointing when you can't visit a port that you were looking forward to, but it's good that you understand the reason for it. If you check your account you will see that any port fees were reversed and you were not charged for it. As for more compensation, according to the cruise contract, nothing is given. I'm not sure why you thought something would be.
Hope you enjoy your next cruise.

Please read my post on the forums at the link. It should answer all your questions. Just to add, the people that you spoke to that stated the "Captain of their ship was nice and smart enough to allow them to stay an extra day in the Bahamas" goes beyond what you may feel is "nice and smart". A LOT goes into the decision of a ship staying an extra day in port at the last minute such as docking availability, approval by the harbor master & the extra price being charged to the cruise line for the extended stay. Check you folio, I'm sure you had your port fees returned for the missed port. http://cruiseline.com/forum/post/why-did-we-skip-the-port-but-other-ships-docked
