Review summary

The ship is old, you could see painted over rust in various areas. Entertainment is out dated, feels like you're in the 80's and so does the ship. Food is blah, same things everyday in the buffet, dining room food was just as bad. I'm a vegetarian and the chef couldn't assure me what ingredients were in certain foods, so definitely not prepared fresh. We had to use a bucket of water to flush the toilet. Forget the kids program, its like a babysitting program..boring AND the carpet was so dirty that it literally stained my 5 year old granddaughters pants! This was a birthday cruises and guess what?? They got the day wrong and the cake was a dessert that she had already ordered! Nothing special at all!!! I got sick, vomiting, etc and so did my granddaughter on the day we docked. The worst part is I emailed RC and they basically said oh well, sorry. That's it??!! So if you want a great cruise AVOID RC like the plague!

It sounds like you had champagne expectations on a beer budget. Sorry your experience was not good, but Enchantment is an older getaway ship/itinerary, not a destination like Oasis, Quantum, Freedom or Voyager classes.

It could have been worse like the Carnival Fantasy. We were docked next to Enchantment and it looked beautiful....needless to say we will be on DISNEY's FANTASY next month....

Been on this ship twice and loved it both times. Yes she's an older ship but still a nice ship. Our food was great and so was our room both times. Sorry for your bad experience but Royal Caribbean is a great cruise line.

Enchantment is in need of some major upgrades. I also saw rust, and mildew in the corners of my shower when I went last year, and my servers at dinner weren't the most friendly. But I also ran into many servers on other parts of the ship that were awesome. And besides the physical appearance of some areas, it was a good time. I guess each person's experience will depend on the room you get, the staff you get, and what you make of it. That's how 2 people can be on the same cruise, but have 2 completely different experiences.

Are there two Enchantments? Cruised on her last month and had awesome service, great food , and a wonderful experience. Will only cruise Royal Caribbean. Never had a bad experience with them.

Well ycruise. We did two cruises on the Carribean Princess. On the first, the ship seemed old, kinda Rusty, and tired. There wasn't much in the way of entertainment. A year later, it seemed much nicer and fresher and we really enjoyed the entertainment offerings. We really don't know if they remodeled the ship or if it was just an overall better experience on the same old rusty boat

Gotcha lauren45. Our first cruise was on the Monarch. We had an awesome time! Was it a floating Four Seasons? Nope. The staff was super. I remember we got to our cabin and thought it was bigger than we expected. At the same time next door others were getting on board. We introduced ourselves and they were laughing about how small their room was. Now, after many other cruises, I know that the Monarch cabin was actually tiny. Anyway, we have a great time cruising and it is painful when someone else doesn't. I agree with you fully that not all ships deliver the same experience and and that an old ship is, well, just old. Anyway, we can't wait for our next cruise!

Windjam064, don't get me wrong I respect anyone's opinion and review, including ycruise, I just think they may have been expecting more than they should have. Regardless, they're entitled to their review, and I'm sorry they had a bad time. All I was saying is that an experience on one of their oldest, smaller ships is not an experience enough to tell everyone to avoid RC like the plague.

I was on last weekend and had a terrific time. Though going in and doing research- I knew there were rust spots and the kids programs are not what they are on newer ships. Bottom line - research. I really do think you would love the freedom class or oasis class. Definitely don't down all of RCI ships based on one old model.

You got to respect ycruise's opinion. He gave RCI one shot to win him over and they messed up. It can cost some serious cash even for a basic, lower-end cruise vacation. Ycruise probably won't take the financial risk to give RCI another chance - nor any cruise line for that matter. Hopefully nobody will try a cruise based on a single review (good or bad). I have never had a poor cruise but I know people do sometimes and I hope RCI learns from their screw-ups.

Yea when we were on it. We also were not impressed. Used to bigger ships. Monarch of the Seas is smaller than Enchantment of the Seas but was a whole lot nicer

I went on this ship last year and loved every minute of it, service was great. Maybe your experience was bad, but this ship is one of RC's oldest, of course everything will be outdated. Telling everyone to "avoid RC like the plague" is an unnecessary exaggeration in my opinion. Sorry you didn't enjoy though

As far as I know you only get a cake if you order it, and it's extra. Disney World is the same way, not sure about other cruise lines. The ship's that do the 3/4 night splits tend to be older. Not sure why other than maybe shorter cruises tend to involve more partying? But they are definitely worked hard.

Shipmates says 1997. I guess it's at the end of it's run.

That is an awful experience! We cruise RCI loyally but did Disney with our kids and granddaughter. While it was three times as much money, they are the best kids line hands down. I have never had any of those things you mentioned happen to me on any cruise, but know they can and do sometimes. With RCI, Enchantment is our least favorite ship, that is for sure. It also is the least expensive. With RCI (maybe all cruise lines), you get what you pay for. For us, Freedom class is our favorite although Oasis class is certainly a unique ship. I would say you should save for a Disney ship or do a Beaches land vacation.
