Review summary
So before I went on this cruise I read all the reviews many negative some positive. I went in it thinking ok this is an old ship you can see some of the wear and tear. First off I live in Chicago I did much Research and this port is not close to the airport so first thing I would recommend renting a car and staying the night at a local hotel I stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites Port Canaveral Area for $118.00 I was able to stay one night, park my car for the entire cruise, get shuttled to and from the port, free breakfast and even 2 free drink voucher. This place shuttle at 10 am through a company called Beach Line Transportation. you get a voucher top part is to the port: The bottom voucher is for the way back disregard the time of 10 am to be picked up they pick up every half starting at 7:30 am. we got shuttled to the port Friday morning.
At the Port we got right in line check in and security was a breeze we got on board by 11:30 am. Unfortunately they do not allow you in your room until 1:30 pm. so we checked out the ship and got familiar with everything we went onto deck 9 since my spouse is a smoker we hung out there by the pool they have a smoking area and a Bar. we Met Paul English best bartender ever. He right away got our names and knew our drinks by heart we pretty much stayed in that area to get drinks from him. I don't drink alcohol and he didn't give me a hard time about it and always made some wonderful frozen nonalcoholic drinks. I definitely suggest getting a drink package since the free drinks are very watered down and just plan terrible its worth the $20 a day for the RR package. We attended some seminars I did the shopping and Jewelry stuff and hey got free nail polish. at 1:30 we went to our room 8581 it was nothing amazing just standard nice king bed some pillows but it was not small like people complained about. the bed was comfortable. we ate a quick bite at the windjammer nothing out of this world but good variety. you will encounter rude people jumping line etc. but hey the cruise can't control others behaviors. I suggest Formal dining yes some good and some not so good Things. Our server Monica and her Assistant server Praveen were astounding. Also the Bar Sever Bogdan S was awesome. Don't be scared to order more then one of each food. I ordered 2 appetizer and 2 entrees every night and 3 deserts and I'm gald I did. We watched the comedy show that night he was adult funny.
The next morning Sat we preordered breakfast in bed kind of small potions but it was fine. We did end up going to Coco Cay a small little boat comes and picks you up to take you to the island. We did the Kayak adventure at 9am on Sat with Bonnie from VA. She was an amazing instructor. Then we hung out on the beach the weather was a bit cold and so was the water but I still took a quick dip. We ate the BBQ lunch they provided. Yes its BBQ quick and easy to make they ship it back and forth from the ship. We had a lot of cloud coverage so we went back to the ship at 2pm. We enjoyed Drinking by the pool on deck 9 and I got to go int the Hot tub finally. The hot tubs fill very quickly so if you find an open spot take it. Plus it was to cold to use the pool our average temperature was like 60 outside. We watched the juggling show this night it was alright I was hoping for the comedy act would be one again. Went to formal Dinner again got more then one of everything. I was celebrating 4 years with my spouse and they brought out a chocolate cake thing and sang Happy Anniversary to you it was cute. We meet our room steward Ali M. he was nice knew are names right off the bat and made the animal towel I was looking forward to the first day but didn't have.
Sunday Nassau/freeport. we had breakfast in windjammer lots to choice from. I have been to Atlantis before and did not think it was worth the money so I read on areas to go on Trip Advisor. When you get off in Nassau you get harassed by the cabs drive we had one literally walk all the way to our stop blocks away. I asked a local about the local Bus 10. The stop is across the street from the Main st ice cream parolor. Make sure its the 10 bus not 10A. I read about Cable Beach it rated # 3. they wrote to take the local Bus 10 for $1.25 each way to Cable beach. You can got through Melia Resort and pay $30.00 a person to use they Facility or you can go left past Melia and right before the Thai restaurant go down an alley to Cable beach. We found people staying at the time share there and hung out on beautiful cable beach. we took the Bus back for $1.25 and then we went shopping. the straw market is terrible to many peddlers. we ate at Senor Frogs which is fun best Fajitas I had in a long time. Watch yourself we had people trying to get us to buy braclets for the school for $10.00 for 2 brackets from what I could see and hear this was a gang trying to make money. we even had a guy follow us to pick pocket us. we got back on ship took a nap and had our last dinner not as great as all the others so we had a little more at the Park Cafe. We saw the late Night adult comedy which was great. I went to the Casino this night lost $2.00 no biggie. The cruise on the way back was very terrible it was definitely rushing to get back.
Monday morning we had a quick bite a windjammer. Got our luggage at waited in what looked like a long line and we out by 8:30 on dock we waited for our shuttle and were back to the hotel by 9:15 am.
But overall I would rate this as an excellent cruise. The service is amazing. You could see a lot of people really worked well to try to get this to be the best cruise you could enjoy. Will definitely cruise again.
