This was such a wonderful birthday vacation. My mother and I did a 4 day cruise with RCI two years ago for my birthday and wanted to do a longer one this year. We thought it was going to take us forever to board the ship, but we were surprised. Within 30 minutes of arriving to the terminal we were on the ship and heading to our room. Mom surprised me with upgrading us from an interior cabin to an ocean view cabin and it was wonderful. If you have never been in an ocean view cabin, you must do it. What a wonderful thing it is when you can look out at the lights in the distance at night and wake up to the waves in the morning. Rowan was our cabin steward and he was great. Always had animals made out of our towels and pj's. After dropping our stuff in our room, we headed toward the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. The food was just as I remembered. Good. I was expecting more of a party of sorts during the embarkation like I experienced before, but we still had a good time. The food in the main dining room was amazing. We had a wonderful table of people that we sat with right by the window. It was so nice to watch the sun set while we were at dinner. Had so much fun with our table that we were doing the after dinner shots every night (needless to say I collect shot glasses and have plenty of them from this trip). Harry was our head waiter - couldn't ask for a nicer man. Made us feel like we were royalty. Donald was our waiter - he was so funny and charming. We felt like we got such special treatment from him. If you get him as a waiter, you won't be disappointed.Emanual was our asstistant waiter - what a nice guy. Always knew what we wanted to drink and was always there with a smile on his face. The entertainment was good. I loved the comedians and the jugglers, but the shows could have been a little better. I guess I'm just not much into those types of shows. The "Save the Waves" crew was great! Loved the "Ship"n dales. And, Quest...now that was not what I was expecting. I can't believe that my mother and I actually played that game and had the time of our lives.Key West - been there before and still had a really good time there.Cozumel - I loved this place. Mexico is one of my favorite places and I just loved being there. I bought so much stuff there that I had to buy another bag to carry it all home in.Costa Maya - This was a beautiful place. This was the day of my birthday and they made sure everyone knew it when they were starting up the Mayan show in the theatre. Too funny. The shopping was great and the relaxing was even better.Georgetown, Grand Cayman - Thought it was very nice. Did the turtle farm tour and that was really fun. If you're going to by liquor on the trip, make sure to buy it here and not on the ship. I found it much cheaper at the stores here and they deliver it to your ship for you so you don't have to deal with it.Days at sea were great! Lounging at the pool, playing bingo and playing in the casino were the things to do. There were plenty of other activities for everyone of all ages. (I know there were kids on the ship, but the kids program must have been wonderful since I only saw them a few times).Leaving this cruise and all the friends we made on it was not easy. Cruising is the only way to travel and I'm now planning my next cruise for next year. Yes, it will definitely be with RCI. They're the only ones to travel with.DAVE, Atlanta, GA
