Best Vacation Ever

Room Type: Suite

We just got back from our best vacation ever, a 6 day New Year Caribbean cruise. Embarkation process was smooth and orderly. Because of that, we got on board much earlier than we expected, but our suite was ready and we were able to enjoy lunch. The Enchantment of the Seas is a huge beautiful ship from outside. When we walked in, it amazed us with gorgeous, modern and airy ambience with marble floors, polished brass, large glass windows and beautiful furniture etc. Elegance and luxury are the words throughout the ship. (I'm sorry to say this, but I did not expect 5 star ambience from Royal Caribbean). Holiday decorations were beautifully and tastefully done. Spa treatment (we had aroma stone massage for a couple) was heavenly. The qualities of shows, different programs every night, were exceptional. Bars and lounges with music were open till late. There were so many things to do every day/night, if you want to keep yourself occupied. But what impressed me most was the services from our waiters, room attendant and concierge. They do their job with real friendly smile. They remembered our names and our likes and dislikes after the first day. They pampered us as if we're a royal family and only a family on board. We got very personalized service throughout the cruise. Our suite was cleaned at least twice a day. Our attendant made different animals everyday with towels like a monkey, a dog, a stingray etc., and after a few days, we could not wait to go back to our room to see what he made. The daily compass (newsletter) can tell you all the information, anything and everything we need to know about the day, so that you can schedule the day. A chef at Windjammer came out and asked our kids if they liked the past that he made. Fixed seating did not bother us as much. These days, we have to make reservations to go to any restaurants on land any ways. Our waiters paid extra attention to our kids. When our younger daughter had a hard time cutting a steak, the head waiter came with smile and cut it into smaller pieces for her. When our elder daughter could not decide what to have for dessert, he brought everything and she picked two out of those choices. Our daughters were treated like pricesses. Our concierge did everything to make our excursions to go smooth every day. They paid special attention to details, so we could just relax and enjoy. Of course, there were glitches. In our case, some of our Sea Pass cards (like ID card) failed to open our suite. When we made a complaint, they created new cards right away. Their attitude is that if there is a problem, they'll fix it right there on the spot. Our fellow passengers that we met were generally pleasant and nice. The ship was so huge that we barely felt moving. Every port of calls, we arrived on time. Weather was just perfect right around low 80s and sunny throughout the cruise from Key West to Cozumel to Grand Cayman to Cococay. Everything was smooth. Disembarkation process was smooth as well, considering about 2500 passengers trying to get down at the same time. As soon as we reached immigration/customs and baggage claim area at the port, we had to face reality. That place was a mess. We spent lots of money for this cruise not only because we stayed in an owner's suite, but also the Christmas-New Year vacation time, so obviously our expectations were high and we wanted nothing but the best. We felt they well exceeded our expectations. We only wish we could stay longerE/textarea>

Recommends Enchantment of the Seas? Yes!

Service and Staff
They are phenomenal. They know how to please guests.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our suite was beautifully appointed, large and clean and comfortable, a large bathroom with jacuzzi and marble floor, marble counter top with double sink, and separate all glass shower. Lots of closet and drawer space.
Entertainment
Different programs each night, from comedy and magic to Broadway style shows. High standard and very enjoyable. Shows were scheduled so that main dining seating people can see later shows after dinner and second dining seating people can see the early shows before dinner.
Children's Programs
Excellent kids' programs. Our younger daughter (9 y.o.) met a friend from a summer camp a few years ago. They had so much fun.
Ship Quality
Very clean, beautifully and tastefully appointed throughout.
Food and Dining
Food was consistently good to delicious everywhere with good selections and great presentations. When we wanted to try something different (after steaks and prime rib roast), Windjammer Market Place had Chinese and Thai food one night and the other night, we had sushi as well.
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
BBQ buffet lunch such as ribs and jerk chicken and salad bar) on the island is included. Glass bottom boat was boring. Wish we had more time.
Don't Miss: parasailing and kayaking
Cozumel, Mexico
We chartered a private plane and flew to Chichen Itza and Tulum. Great experience!

We enjoyed private swim with horses, a horse back riding excursion in pristine beach with just ourselves. Our horses loved sea and went quite deep up to their neck. What an experience!
