Review SummaryThis cruise was not all bad, but it was disappointing in many ways. The food was just 'okay'. Sometimes less than okay, even in the main dining room. Tiramisu and many other desserts are made with some kind of whipped pudding/jello type thing. Everyone at our table sent back the tiramisu. There were no 'wow' desserts on this cruise. The crew members were not very friendly or helpful. On more than one occasion crew members stood yelling at passengers to move and hurry up. You are made to feel like cattle. The Venezuelan girl working the main desk and some of the cruise director's staff were rude, rude, rude. Many of the staff are wonderful, but a few bad apples can leave a guest feeling a bit abused. The buffet is not open 24 hours like on other cruise lines and is nowhere near as good as Princess. Main dining food was also a major disappointment compared to Princess.
Room "service" should be renamed on this ship. I ordered the earliest breakfast each day. They give themselves a 30 minute window to deliver and we always had to wait at least 30 minutes past the 30 minute window. SO a breakfast ordered 6:30-7:00 would show up after 7:30, if it showed up at all. One night they didn't even pick up our breakfast tag, which was put out by 8pm. It was still on our door in the morning. They forgot, on average, two items per morning. If you call and ask for coffee and tea there's about an hour wait.
Our cabin steward was very friendly, but managed to overlook quite a few things over the five days. We had to ask several times to get towels for the pool, had to ask for other items which we were told by the desk were in our room on the glass table. They refused to believe us when we told them we did not have a table. The rooms are tiny - you can't overlook a table. steward also sprayed some kind of cleaner on the brand new beach towels we purchased and left them bleached in spots.
The cruisers on this ship were definitely not as sophisticated as the fellow passengers on Princess. If you want an inexpensive booze cruise, this one is probably great for you. If you're a foodie or feel bothered by sharing your public space with more than 50% tattooed unwashed masses, this may not be the ship for you.
