5 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Sail Date: September 20, 2008 Ship: Enchantment of the Seas Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 8 years ago
The ship was lovely. The casino could use a pick-me-up. Our room, with a balcony, was not cramped and we very happy with it. I can't imagine doing a cruise without a balcony room...it's our one "must-have" for any future cruises.
Food and Dining

I would really prefer a more relaxed dinner schedule. When I'm on vacation, dressing up is not part of the gameplan...and if you aren't ready for dinner at your chosen time, you can't go in the dining room anyway.

We missed the first show of the cruise but did see it on the stateroom television the next day. We saw the Abbacadabra show...which is not to be missed! Fantastic! We also saw the production show with the RC singers and dancers and thoroughly enjoyed it. They were wonderful...and Omar is a STAR!!!
Service and Staff

Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and friendly. If we asked a question about something, we had an immediate answer with a big smile. If we requested something, it was in our hands within minutes...they were the BEST!

It was very easy to get around the ship. It was very very clean. The decor is lovely.

Our room was kept spotless. The towel animals were like getting a little gift everytime we opened the door :)
We did the Boatswain's Beach/Park tour which was really nice. The Turtle Farm is amazing! My only problem with it was that it's scheduled for 4 hrs 45 min and it can easily be done in 2 hours. We had a WONDERFUL experience there though...we asked at the desk if they would call a cab for us to go back to the port area. The lady, Cathy Jackson, called and was told it would be around a 20 minute wait...so she offered to drive us there herself! She gave us a little side tour rather than taking us back along the same road we had already seen. Her hospitality and kindness are a wonderful memory of Grand Cayman for us. Thank you again, Cathy ;)
Don't Miss: Our friends did the Swim with the Stingrays tour and they loved it :)
We did the Passion Island excursion. The island is lovely and we really enjoyed it. We were the only 44 people on the whole island! The buffet was very good and the guacamole was the BEST! Our only complaint would be that the "open bar" consisted of two pre-mixed drinks, Margaritas and Sex on the Beach, both of which seemed to be missing the liquor. We were buying shots from the Cash Bar on the beach and adding them to the drink mix. If you enjoy lying on the beach, this is a must-see :)
Pros: The service, friendliness and efficiency of the ship's staff was outstanding
Cons: We went the very casual route and skipped the dining room dinners. The buffet was good but not fantastic. For some reason, their lunches were better than their dinner choices.
