great educational trip by themistralwind

empress is smaller than most rcl ships. it was a great vacation and the food was generally very good especially in the dining room. the variety in the windjammer buffet was very good. the breakfast was good in windjammer but they could be more careful with the first in first out rule in food line. The food was very good the ribs were very tasty nd the variety of veggies were actually better than on most ships. the deserts were just ok except in the dining room they had a nice cheesecake that was good with strawberries. The cheese selection left something to be desired but all in all i thought the food on this ship was actually better than the bigger ships. the movie in the pool area was sometimes not loud enough but this can be easily remedied . the comedy show was very funny and the vegas act was surprisingly good. hope you enjoy this trip. the visit to cuba was the high light.

It was just... okay by kristiservice

I have cruised only about 7 times, but this was my least favorite. Small ship and much older so you don't have a lot of the amenities you can find on a larger ship. The comedian and these 2 guys from (I think) NY were great- very entertaining. Everything else was... meh. Our server at dinner, Carlene, was the BEST! She made our trip great. Getting off the ship was a terrible process, so be prepared to hang out and do nothing for the morning you leave.

Great excursion to Cuba on an older traditional style cruiser from the Royal Caribbean fleet.

Oh those Cuban nights! by grandcrabs

It was relaxing, met many wonderful people from the US & abroad. The activities were great & plentiful. Our shore excursions in Key West & Cuba met our expectations. It was an interesting journey to see & speak with Cubans about their culture & socialist society. I have a new perspective of their way of life. It also reinforced in my mind that the USA is great & we the citizens have a lot to be grateful for.

Mixed feeling. by yefimbesterman

OK, if this required. the cruise wasn't perfect. Service was good, but couple mistakes made by shore excursion director, bad organisation of medical service and not comfortable disembarkation bring grades down. Big surprise was additional payment for internet services, all other cruises include it in tour price. Also you are having mandatory charged gratitude, which is nonsense/ Gratitude is a way to thank somebody for outstanding work and can't be mandatory charged. So we finished paying this mandatory part and paying additionally to the stuff really deserved our appreciation. I'd compare this experience to Frontier airlines which gives you an inexpensive flight and then charges for everything additionally. Those hidden price additions are unfair and look like scham to me.

Two days in Cuba! by JJordan2

This cruise is all about the destination. It is one of the only cruises that offers two days in Cuba. The ship is old and small but there is only one day at sea.

Cuba is a bucket list destination for many Americans... this cruise is the perfect way to experience this. I can't explain the overwhelming feelings upon arriving in the port of Havana. Once in a lifetime experience!

Havana/Cozumel by lucky0728

I took my daughter for her 30th birthday. We heard from other guests on a birthday cruise that they had received gifts/coupons/champagne but we had no recognition. I did ask at client services on the last day and they sent a warm bottle of champagne late that evening while we were trying to pack. Other than that, service and food were amazing but I really was very disappointed about the miss of the birthday. That would have made it magical.

First time to Cuba by bbishop92698233

This is an easy way to see Cuba. The ship was remodeled in 2016. It has older design elements, but I like traditional ships more than the newer ships with all the bells and whistles. The entertainment was great, and all of the food that I tried was good to excellent.

First cruise on Royal Carribean by jhol

This is a smaller and older ship. If you are sued to the mega-ships, it will be an adjustment. Positives are you won't get lost. There are fewer specialty restaurants. Food was good in dining room and in buffet. We've done many cruises but this was our first with Royal Caribbean. Many other passengers told us "do not let this ship establish your opinion of Royal Caribbean. Ok, I won't. ...and therefor have no more to say.

Locations visited were superb, but boat is too small. by CruiserPhyllis

Verified Review
/ Sail Date: / Traveled As: Large Group

Trip should be shortened and price reduced on this boat for its lack of amenities offered. Drop Key West - experienced cruisers have been there too many times. We had a group of 13 onboard, ranging in age from 11 to 73. It was so small, we should have had more room and amenities for this price.

Relaxing Caribbean Cruise by gtwhiteside

Reagan and Amol in My Time Dining were amazing. They were thoughtful and efficient while sharing a little of themselves. It was a personal experience with them and we requested their table every night. Alvaro, our room steward, was very busy and a hard worker. Our room was always neat as a pin and very clean.

28th Wedding Anniversary & Birthday Celebration by WorldSongBird

Empress Of The Sea is one of the smaller ships, my husband and I really enjoyed Hugo the cruise director and the activities coordinator; they both made our entertainment experiences great! I'm not sure if it was offered...not the tour of the bridge, but it would have been nice to have a tour of the ship to know where everything was located. Granted, it was a lot of information provided even though we had a map, but at times when we were looking for a location on the ship it was like a treasure hunt it was hidden. The size of the cabin and the bathroom was entirely to small. We didn't have any place to put our large luggage. Also, the room had two beds at the top on the (L&R side) above our heads and it was very hard to navigate getting in and or of bed without almost hitting your heads. We were very disappointed with on so many levels which was a partner of Royal Caribbean. We PAID for day in advance for a round trip transfer for 2, I confirmed 3 days prior that we were good and upon and we received our receipt to confirmed our seats. Upon our arrival at baggage claim we were told that our name was not out the list. After checking in everyone else and showing our receipt for the 2nd time, they let us get on the bus. However returning back from the cruise in Miami and the transfer being paid round trip we got our luggage and went to get on the bus to make our 11:15am flight. Once again our names were not listed and this time we were told by three reps that they couldn't let us on the bus even though we had a receipt. We were told to step aside and then they told us if they let us on the bus the would have to pay for us out of their pockets. We were furious, I check on Wednesday, July 18th while we were on the cruise and that confirmed that our were on the manifest and our $72 dollars have been paid and said we were good to go. We returned on July 21st from our 5 day cruise and I have asked for the $72.00 transfer to be refunded and we're still waiting on someone to investigate our incident. Not the best experience over all through !!!
