Go see CUBA now! It's amazing! by trevinoim

This ship is small and dates from the 90s. While it is very clean, and the decor is tasteful, it really could use some updates. Havana is a must see destination but. Ozimel is a tourist trap that features dicey jewelry stores, a Margaritaville and a Senor Frog. Best skipped.

The Best Way to Visit CUBA by vinag

We enjoyed the camaraderie of the smaller ship, and viewed Key West as a stepping stone to our reason for booking this cruise : CUBA! We were not disappointed. If you decide to visit Havana, read all the warnings and information about visiting before you go so there are no surprises when you get there. We took Euros to exchange for CUCs and saved 10% over the USDollar exchange rate. The locals will not take American dollars except in a few locations. All rum, cigars, and other items you might want to bring home are controlled by the gov't, so the price is standardized throughout the area. Just wait til you get back close to the terminal to buy everything so you don't have to carry it all over the place. I loved that there are no street vendors, no haggling. Stuff your backpack or bag with candies, toys, small shampoos and soaps, hair accessories, etc. to hand out the children and others who help you out. They will love you for it.

Cubalicious! by sajustin2

We chose this cruise because of the Havana port of call. Although the ship was small (it is the only RC ship allowed to dock in Havana) it was a very enjoyable cruise. My daughter got the refreshment package (free soft drinks) and was disappointed that every time she wanted a drink ... she had to go to the bar to get one. This ship does not have the pop machines like the larger ones do. Had she know this, she would have just stuck with the free lemonade drinks and not gone with that drink package. By far, the best part of this cruise was the experience of Cuba. It was very hot - so bring water and a hat if you plan on walking around the city.

Great Cruise Trip by JMart001

This was our first cruise on Royal Caribbean and we had a great time. Our only complaint was the disembarkation. It took a long time to get off the boat.

The one thing that I enjoyed on the ship was the calmness on the deck as the ship sail in the ocean. There was hair on the floor in the shower once I was able to go to my room after arriving. On the first night there was hair on my bread plate then I received dirty dishes to use for coffee/tea. The server dropped silverware (they fell out of the napkin) and had the person rolling the silverware re-wrap them as if they were still clean. Some of the kitchen crew scratched their head and processed to touch dishes without washing their hands. Now every time you enter the buffet (windjammer) they ask you to wash your hands but the workers aren't washing their hands. Some of the excursions offered by the cruise line were okay. The food wasn't they best which I heard before going on this cruise and it is true. I also heard there is food all day well I didn't experience that. The one time I actually wanted to eat food during the day since my excursion was over the windjammer (buffet) was closed for cleaning. Each time I called room service to ask when it would be open they kept giving me a different time and each times given they were still closed. For my next cruise I will be trying a different cruise line.

Older Ship by amoran

Cruise was okay. I guess I'm comparing it to other cruises I have been on. The pool is tiny. I had my 5 year old and 2.5 year old twins with me so I wasn't able to do much because they weren't able to do anything except play in the tiny splash pad area. Staff was nice. Food was decent.

Great trip to Havana by ksquare

The ship itself was fine. It is small but that was expected. The smoke free casino was the best part of the ship. The lack of children's activities was the worst. Cococay was awesome and was happy to see the drink package was accepted. Carnival does not do that with their private island. Havana was the main reason for this cruise and RC made everything as easy as possible.

Best time in Cuba! by akfireweed

This is a small and older ship but the cleanliest and staff was great! We loved Cuba and Cococay! The port of Miami is less to be desired. It's crowded, very confusing as there are no signs stating where ships are docked, check in was terrible.

The waiters and room stewards were great. The opportunity for Cuba at night was great as was the drive in the early American cars!

Wedding Anniversary Cruise by pamellman

It was sad to leave the ship and to have our vacation come to an end. However we made new friends who we've arranged to see again and hope to cruise with again. We were looking for a cruise that was only a few days (5) and we're both glad that we chose Royal Caribbean and the Empress of the Seas.

Nice and easy experience for a first time cruiser by Cruiser25894420

Overall, a good experience. Made me realize I need more time to experience all that Cuba can offer. And I also know that 7 days is probably the maximum amount of time I would spend onboard. 5 days was just enough for a first time cruise.

Truly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of this cruise. Hugo, our cruise director, was FULL of energy which was great. Appreciated his tips on Havana prior to our arrival. LOVED the fact that we were able to spend more time than planned in Havana. Finally, the comedy and musical shows were great! Just what we needed!
