We are glad we went to Cuba. It was educational for us. Everything went smooth, no problems. The Tropicana Club was our hi light of the trip. Key West was also nice., Everything there is business as usual. It was a great cruise. Empress of the Seas is a nice, comfortable and lovely ship.
This trip was for my fiancé's birthday and the card that was left with the champagne and chocolate coated strawberries for him was a mess; the card was put to my name instead of his and the little message was not put; then where they are suppose to put from whom they wrote from Happy Birthday so that surprise was completely ruined which I had to explain that it was not for me but for him.
Great cruise. Really enjoyed it. Thinking about going once again but this time two days in Havana. Havana is a beautiful city. My guide drove us around in a 1956 Bel Air that was in factory new condition.
would definitely do this cruise again and again. Key West was nothing to get really excited about though there was a quirky women's club museum tour that was fun. bring water. CUBA IS AMAZING! that was the highlight of this cruise and i cannot wait to go again. In Cozumel go directly to a beach and stay there until you get thrown out. the water is warm. you wont regret it.
Took RC because they had the Cuban stopover and was a port close to where I live. The ship is older but well maintained. The cabins are the smallest I have ever experienced and the shower even smaller. I expected breakfast in the main dining room but only got buffets with cold or room temperature food. The same for lunches. I usually took the least offensive choice on the menu rather than something I liked. My dining partners also disliked the food choices.
Havana was amazing and well worth the other irritations involved. Royal Caribbean seems to be slipping and we received incorrect information from both corporate before the cruise and onboard staff during the sail. So double check your facts or miss out on package deals. Also, bar staff were not well informed and the bar manager was lacking basic customer service skills & very impressed with himself. He preferred to tell us what he had done for us rather than solve our problem. We did not enjoy the brunch buffets in the dining room as we would rather have ordered what we wanted & been served at our table. We did have a wonderful time and really enjoyed Cuba which was a step back in time.
The cruise was packed with fun and entertainment. There was always something to do. The heat in Key West was oppressive and we only went a little ways in, had a drink, bought a few things and rushed back to the ship. Havana was exciting, full of new experiences and very nice people. The heat and humidity on the second day was unbearable, we stayed on the ship and had a lot of fun! Overall, it was an experience that I'll never forget!
Definitely worth going. If you are able, do it while you can. Cuban people were very nice. If you're an American, they are used to tourists from other countries. This is new to us, not them. They know what they're doing. Didn't get hit on for money in the streets, just the occasional "invitation" to purchase artwork or souvenirs. Havana is very clean and safe. I'd like to go back and spend a couple days more exploring the culture, sites and sounds. And everything they say about the old, colorful cars is true! A wonderful journey back in time.
Our cruise was cut short by Irma but RC gave us the opportunity to stay on the ship and head back out to sea. We were even given a partial refund. We stayed for an additional 3 days and loved every minute! They are our #1 cruise company now!
The ship is beautiful and well kept. It is clean and in good shape. The food on board is beyond delicious. The chefs do an excellent job at making sure the food is beautifully presented and brought to the table hot. The buffet is a great room with windows all around to afford a view of the sea. The food is very good and there is plenty of it. The waiters will bring drinks to the table for you. There are so many activities on board to keep you busy and entertained and the entertainment is always top notch.
I had a great time and got some great memories. wanted to do this survey to say how great it was but this box should not require 150 characters before it lets you submit. Also I didn't have any kids but it won't let you skip that question or ports I didn't go out on. Now I'm slightly dissatisfied.
1st issue I ordered the bon voyage package over the phone gave my card number, ex date, security code
We were disconnected, I called back talked to someone else who pulled up account. 2nd agent said I see the info it went through I said this you and we hung up. This was my kids first cruise we arrived no bon voyage package. I talked to Emerson at service desk who ckd apologized and said it will be done at turn down. Turn down came and went, next morning I go to service desk Emerson Is there he checks and tells
me the payment didn't go through. I asked why didnt you say that last night u have a card on file. Be shrugs shoulder I all away because im upset. Next kids sea pass cards are connected to our accounts they
Get $25 a day the card stopped working everyday at different times.
I did not enjoy this cruise I found there was hardly any choice for me to eat as I'm a vegetarian. There was all kinds of meat dishes even the macaroni had ham in it. Plus Royal Carribbean told my husband that we had to have an excursion booked to be able to go into Havanna this was not the case. Other people said they were told the same thing. The excursion we went on was terrible. We drove around on the bus way too fast so you couldn't see anything. We spend far too much time in a cemetery. Then on to a fort that was closed so we were crushed in a small room to buy cigars. This process took far too long. The tour guide forgot our vouchers so we stood around in the hot sun. They took off leaving people behind so we had to go back for them. Waiting around for people in the hot sun was terrible. In the end we ditched the tour and looked for something else to do. In order to see Havanna we hired a private tour in one of the old cars. I've already told lots of people I know not to take a tour with Royal Carribbean just organize their own tour.
Besides the ports, there was nothing spectacular about the EotS. The food and staff were the best parts of the ship. I can see why this ship was retired. They may have updated some things, but it's still outdated.
