Amazing crew, But boat needs complete overhaul or replaced by mikenabbie

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Ship is Very old and needs a complete overhaul if royal plans to keep using it! The plumbing issues need to be fixed or boat sold and replaced! You would think all the bad reviews and publicity would encourage them to do a complete remodel from top to bottom or just sell the boat considering its a 1989! The Sewer smell was present the entire cruise, and deck 3 had blowers running the entire cruise trying to dry the carpet! Rooms are showing the age and bathrooms need serious updating as well. Just got of harmony before this cruise and the staff is definitely nicer on the smaller ships. They aren't near as rushed with only 1/3 the people onboard. Dining room waiters ( Mark & okay) were amazing, and easily near the top on all but a dozen cruises we've been on! Room attendant was also very good and much better than some we've had. Food in the main dining room was good and the service was as well. Food in the windjammer was fair, way to repetitive on the longer cruises. Evening Entertainment/Shows were good but afternoon activities were lacking! The movies repeated wayyyyy to much! How hard is it to at least play a new movie every day!? Also the movie selection was very poor compared to other cruises we've been on! The Cruise we were on got extended do to hurricane and royal did not charge any extra, and handled the situation pretty well!

Very nice Caribbean Cruise by msk

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

Very relaxing cruise. Another stop would have been better than 3 days at sea in a small ship.

Small cruise, small service by Kayra23

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

Empress of the Seas is Royal caribbean's smallest ship where it feels like the send the waitstaff on their way out of the business and train their upper management. Would be a good first time cruise, not for seasoned cruisers.

Smallest ship with biggest heart by kltt5

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Along our journey at different ports, we talked to other people on bigger ships. They all said there are lines on their ships to do things. This was not the case on Empress of the Seas. It was a very personable, relaxing experience.

Disappointing, was not able to visit Cuba and ship and cabin was very small by spage26614745

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Disappointed not visiting Cuba, by size of ship, few amenities and lack of dining options. Room was very small and no balconies except with suites. Crew were great as usual.

Cuba cancelled, so was San Juan but not the fault of Royal Carribean by ahlnancy

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Disappointed in not going to Cuba but Royal Carribean was more than fare with compensation. Disappointed in not going to San Juan but again not RC’s fault. The cruise staff really did their best to entertain and make people happy. The ship is old and has no balcony rooms. I only agrees to this ship because I wanted to do to Cuba.

Worse Cruise Ever!! by wriveralopez

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

Ir was bad and we (my family too) are very sad: -Dirty bed sheets and towels (blood stains) -Dirty bathrooms -Hallways smell like sewer -Dirty elevators -Port cancelation last minute -Close Buffett 30 minutes before time -Employees saying they don’t like working here and not coming back -Late start to several events and even one show was canceled! -Pictures leaving before time to go -Employees eating at cafe making lines too long and food to run out

Not good by islandpressurec

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

First cruise for my wife and myself. Probably not going with Royal Caribbean again. They should have recommended another ship after Cuba was canceled.

Good vacation, but not the best ever by reelyn

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

This trip was meant to go to Cuba and we were hoping the trip would include Coco Cay instead of the Western Caribbean route it went on. We were somewhat disappointed in the Jr. Suite cabin in that it felt like a typical balcony size on a newer ship. The boat is showing its age and should be retired soon. The Windjammer Cafe always felt crowded, with very little food selection, and often repeated buffet options.

Empress of the Seas by Notrechanson

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Large Group

I enjoyed the cruise. There was an awesome photo package available that we took advantage of. It was so nice not to have to remember to take pictures of everyone. The Dolphin encounter at Costa Maya was memorable but the prices at the stores were exorbitant. A very small island designed especially for the cruise industry. Cozumel had so many different, interesting choices for tours, sorry I could only do one. Key West is Key West. Three times there and it is in my humble opinion like most tourist traps. But what can I say, I enjoyed the cruise.

Creative, Casual, Caribbean, Cruise by NOTHAPPYGUEST

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

This particular cruise was supposed to go to Cuba. Royal Caribbean did everything to make up for the last minute change in the itinerary. As a result, we made the best of the cruise. As a side note, we sailed passed Havana, Cuba and waved! We enjoyed our vacation and came back home very relaxed.

Pleasant by TTVDB

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Overall, we were disappointed we could not go to Cuba as planned, but very happy none the less for the experience. The ship indeed is older and smaller, but had its own charm. oUR CABIN Stewart was amazing. I must say, although there were many young and new waiters etc, all were spectacularly friendly and engaging. Well done on service.

Cuba 2019 by cms1909

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Excellent cruise to Cuba. Our second and had already booked the third. Unfortunately trump blocked all Cuba cruises while we were there. The country is beautiful. The people amazing and surprisingly very unhappy with their government. They love Americans. Lots of free enterprise since 2016, People are taxed but allowed to have small restaurants, cafes, shops. Greatest security. Safest . Great food. Old Havana is like traveling to the 1950s. No communist propaganda. Will have to travel from a third country now. Canada to Cuba cruises

Old Ship, Sub Par Crew...Havana was great! by LONDON35980096

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Empress of the Seas should be decommissioned for remodeling. It needs an overhaul in the dining areas, as well the staterooms. If and when travel to Cuba is restored from US ports, you should skip the stops in Florida and go straight to Havana. Allow people a minimum of 2 nights.

Havana was great by noname99999

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

It was a great cruise to Havana. It was more for us about the port than the ship. Empress of the Seas is an older ship, the food was just ok in all restaurants. The service throughout the ship was excellent. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Great Relaxing Cruise by kingsol53228492

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Although older and smaller than other Royal ship’s, Empress of the Seas provides a great cruise experience. Wonderful crew and nice ports of call. Great deal!
